Barossa Gourmet Weekend 15th - 17th August 2014

Barossa heritage celebrated with a new wine and CD launch

At its 2014 Barossa Gourmet Weekend event on August 16 Gibson Wines, Light Pass will release a new wine celebrating the heritage of its Light Pass site alongside the launch of a live album recorded on the property by musical group, Cousin Leonard and the Reunited.

“The Smithy” a Shiraz/Cabernet blend is a throwback to a classic Australian red wine style and celebrates the heritage of the founding family who built the wattle and daub cottage the Gibson cellar door is built next to.

The launch of this wine is an important step in the ongoing preservation of the cottage, an important piece of local history. To help with this some proceeds of the sale of The Smithy will contribute to the ongoing

effort.Easter 2013 Melbourne band,

Cousin Leonard recorded their live performance in the Gibson Wines cellar door for an intimate group of family and friends.

In the lead up to this performance it was discovered that members of the band share ancestry with Anna Steike, who, with her husband, Gottleib settled in the original cottage.

The live album titled “Homecomings” w i l l b e a v a i l a b l e f o r s a l e at Gibson cellar door over the Gourmet Weekend.

Andre’s Cucina and Polenta Bar will be serving their Italian influenced breakfast and lunch both Saturday and Sunday at Gibson Wines, wines will be available by the glass and bottle.
