3. Aquaculture Production

The National aquaculture pro-

duction has grown significantly dur-

ing the last five year. From a pro-

duction 1,1 million tonnes in 2002,

production in 2007 was reported to

have risen to 3.2 million tones. This

represents an average annual in-

crease of 23.6 percent in quantity

over reported figures for 2002. In

2006, Indonesia accounted for 3.33

percent of the world production

quantity. Of the world total, China

Produksi nasional perikanan

budidaya dalam lima tahun terakhir

tumbuh cukup signifikan. Dari

volume produksi sebesar 1,1 juta

ton pada tahun 2002, pada tahun

2007 dilaporkan telah meningkat

menjadi 3,2 juta ton. Hal ini

menunjukkan pertumbuhan volu-

is reported to account for 67,8 per-

cent of the total quantity of aqua-

culture production. Indonesia in

the third rankings of the top ten

producing countries for aquacul-

ture commodities.

The top producing provinces

from aquaculture in 2007 are indi-

cated in Picture 12. All regions

(exception west Papua) showed in-

creases in production from 2002 to

2007, led by the Moluccas and East

Nusa Tenggara with 745 and 140

percent average annual growth,

respectively. National aquatic plant

production (especially seaweed) in

2007 reached 1.7 million tonnes, of

which 630.7 thousands tonnes

originated from South Sulawesi,

504.7 thousand tonnes from East

Nusa Tenggara, and 190 thousand

total produksi budidaya dunia

sedangkan China menghasilkan

produksi sebesar 67,8 persen.

Namun demikian Indonesia

menduduki rangking ketiga

penghasil komoditas budidaya

dunia.

Provinsi penghasil produk

budidaya terbesar tahun 2007

disajikan pada Gambar 12. Seluruh

wilayah (kecuali Papua)

menunjukkan peningkatan pro-

duksi dari tahun 2002 sampai

tahun 2007, dipimpin oleh Maluku

dan Nusa Tenggara Timur dengan

rata-rata peningkatan berturut-

turut sebesar 745 dan 140 persen.

Produksi jenis tanaman air

(khususnya rumput laut) pada

tahun 2007 mencapai 1,7 juta ton,

dimana 630,7 ribu ton berasal dari

tonnes from the Central Sulawesi.

Seaweed showed the highest pro-

duction in Aquaculture production,

followed by Shrimps and carp.

Figure 13 presents an over-

view of aquaculture production in

terms of quantity by major species

group for 2007. The growth in pro-

duction of the different major spe-

cies groups continues. The period

2003-05 has seen strong growth in

production of Seaweed and mud

crab, in particular, then growth

rates for the production of the

other species groups have seen to

slow and the overall rate of growth,

while still substantial, is not compa-

rable with the significant rate in-

creases seen in the previous five

year. Thus, while the trend for the

near future appears to be one of

continued increases in production,

the rate of these increases maybe

moderating (Picture 14).

The main species groups in

terms of production quantity and

spesies pada tahun 2007.

Pertumbuhan produksi setiap

spesies berkembang pesat. Pada

periode 2003-05 khususnya rumput

laut dan kepiting tumbuh lebih

besar, sehingga laju peningkatan

produksi untuk kelompok spesies

lainnya terlihat lebih lambat dan

keseluruhan laju peningkatan

produksi, belum bisa dibandingkan

dengan laju penambahan yang

signifikan dalam lima tahun

terakhir. Dengan demikian,

walaupun kecenderungan produksi

dimasa datang terus berlanjut,

namun laju peningkatan produksi

tidak terlalu tinggi (Gambar 14).

shown in Picture 13 and 14. Pro-

duction of common carp and milk-

fish far exceeded that for all other

species of fish, accounting for over

40 percent (527 thousand tonnes)

of total production of fish in 2007.

The largest production for an indi-

vidual aquacul-

ture commodi-

ties was sea-

weeds, followed

by shrimp and six

species of fish. In

terms of value,

shrimp culture is

highest contribu-

tion in produc-

tion value of aquaculture (47.6 per-

cent)and has increased substan-

tially in the 2002-07 period about

12.9 percent per year.

Most fisheries aquaculture

continues to derive from the ma-

rine-cultur (47.27 percent by quan-

tity and 14.45 percent by value).

While much of the marine produc-

tion consists of high-value com-

modities, there is also a large

amount of relatively low-priced

some others commodities. Fresh-

water contributes 23.49 percent of

production quantity and 26.80 per-

cent of the total value. Although

brackish-water production repre-

sented only 29.24 percent of pro-

duction quantity in 2007, it contrib-

persen) dan peningkatan dalam

periode 2002-2007 sebesar 12,9

persen pertahun.

Produksi perikanan budidaya

umumnya dihasilkan dari budidaya

laut (dari volume 47,27 persen dan

dari nilai 14,45 persen). Walaupun

kebanyakan produksi budidaya laut

terdiri dari komoditas yang bernilai

tinggi, namun juga terdapat banyak

jenis-jenis lainnya yang bernilai

rendah. Budidaya air tawar

berkontribusi sebesar 23,49 persen

terhadap volume dan 26,80 persen

terhadap nilai. Meskipun budidaya

air payau hanya 29,24 persent dari

volume produksi pada tahun 2007,

namun kontribusi nilainya

duction increased at an average

annual rate of 220 percent, com-

pared with 55.4 percent in the rest

of the national. On the other hand,

during the same period, South Su-

lawesi shrimp aquaculture produc-

tion in brackishwater, decreased at

an average annual rate of 2.41 per-

cent compared with 17.71 percent

in the rest of the national.
