2 Administrator I want to use my last column to say goodbye to all of you. These last eight months have been a great opportunity for me to grow as human being and as priest. I hope the experience for you was as posi-tive as it was for me. Remember that the church needs mature and committed Christians, willing to love radically and to be welcoming to all. As a benedictine monk, I learned that the most fruitful spiritual exercise is to work hard to see God’s presence in the other. This comes so naturally when the other is someone we love, but it is probably the most difficult thing to do when it is someone we don’t agree with or some-one who has harmed us. I invite you to keep work-ing on that. Worshipping with you has been a truly spiritual ex-perience. I always looked forward to every Mass. It always felt like a supernatural moment. Thanks for participating so actively in our community worship. You are a model for many other parishes. I beg for your prayers, which I greatly need. They sustain my ministry and my vocation. I am thankful for all the signs of love you have given me, particu-larly in the last month. It humbles me that you are willing to be so open and vulnerable. You are in my prayers as well, I wish that you keep growing in faith and that you realize how real God is in your midst. Remember God wants you free, happy, and com-mitted to the good of your sisters and brothers, do not settle for less than that.

NOT AGAINST US
Like Moses before him, Jesus corrects his disciples’ misunderstanding of the gift of the Spirit. They saw people who were not of their company casting out demons and doing other works such as Jesus had done. Jesus points out that no one who does a good deed in his name can be opposed to him at the same time. He goes on to point out the importance of the “little ones,”: the poor, simple people, children, the meek ones who are not important in the world. It is to them that he was sent, not to the wealthy and the self-righteous. He underscores the im-portance of small works done in faith, as well as big works like driving out demons. “Anyone who gives you a cup of water . . . because you belong to Christ . . . will surely not lose his re-ward” (Mark 9:41). God builds the coming reign little by little in our actions, however small and unassuming, when they are done out of love of God and neighbor.
