The role of the Core Leadership Team is to

serve the Church, assist the Senior Leader and seek God’s wisdom for

the direction and vision of Arun Community Church.

This magazine is a new way for us to tell people’s stories, give you information and diary dates and celebrate as a community all that God is doing. I am so grateful to be part of this God-community we call ‘church’, and I hope the stories in here will be an encouragement to you. Our ongoing topic for 2015 is ‘Jesus Is’, and I love the journey we have been on so far with this. I’ve chosen to focus on John’s Gospel because he was so close to Jesus; some would argue the closest of all the disciples. Jesus is central to all we believe, so for the whole year we are finding out more about who he is and what he represents. My desire is that we would be like him, act like him, see like him, speak how he spoke, and have his heart for people, his perspective, his joy and his peace. So far we have looked at ‘Jesus Is Feeding the Hungry’ and what we have in our hands, ‘Jesus Is Angry’ and the importance of anger, ‘Jesus Is a Grain of Wheat’ and how we have to lose ourselves to find ourselves. I loved our Easter events celebrating that ‘Jesus Is Alive’.We have seen that Jesus is good, nothing is impossible and all our needs are met at the cross. We have learned that we are significant through Jesus and that this means we can take risks and trust God.

“I am so gratefulto be part of this God-community we call ‘CHURCH”

WELCOMEHELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO OUR VERY FIRST ACC MAGAZINE!

For the rest of the year we will keep looking at who Jesus is. Through the summer we will look at the Fruit of the Spirit, then continue to look at John’s Gospel and the Letters in the New Testament. We will be looking at John 17, and learning about how important unity was to Jesus. If you’ve missed any of the topics, or would like to listen again, they are all available as podcasts from www.aruncommunitychurch.com/media God bless you this summer. May this place be a garden where everyone can grow.

WICKBOURNEREACHING OUT TO OUR COMMUNITY

The Wickbourne Centre in Clun Road, Littlehampton is 10 years old this year! The Centre is owned by the church and first opened its doors in February 2005.

The previous building was a Brethren Church originally built in 1959 and named Wickbourne Chapel. In 2001 ownership of the Chapel was handed to Arun Community Church and the building was used for various services and activities until December 2003 when the Government ‘Sure Start’ program agreed to develop a new children’s centre on the site.

Today, various organisations use the Centre, working together and sharing the facilities for the good of the community. Lots of our activities are based in the building, including our PlayCentre Nursery and Refresh Coffee Shop.

10 YEARS OF CHANGED LIVESTo celebrate a decade of The Wickbourne Centre we’ll be hearing some of the amazing stories of changed lives and praying for the Centre’s future at our Sunday morning service on 14th June at The Littlehampton Academy. After the meeting we will head over to the Centre for a picnic, with Refresh Fairtrade Coffee Shop open for drinks and cake. We look forward to celebrating this special occasion together. Additionally on Thursday 18th June we are hosting an afternoon of family fun at the Centre from 3 - 5pm. This is an opportunity for the whole community to come together and see the impact of the past 10 years. There will be lots to do including art and craft, inflatables, refreshments, face painting and more. Come and celebrate with us!

INTRODUCINGDANNY & JODIE

7

DANNY & JODIE HAVE BEEN COMING TO ACC SINCE OCTOBER 2014. THEY HAVE A SON, FREDDIE, AND LIVE IN LITTLEHAMPTON. THEIR JOURNEY WITH GOD HAS BEEN POWERFUL AND LIFE CHANGING, AND IT’S GREAT TO HAVE THEM HERE AS PART OF THE CHURCH FAMILY.

Danny: In the last six months God has been doing amazing things in my life. Before knowing Him I was a very immature, selfish person with no direction in my life. I had an amazing girlfriend and son, but I lived a life full of anger and jealousy. Since starting my journey with God I have let go of the greed and anger, Jodie and I have got married, and He is making me into a better father, husband and man.

God has given me the strength to forgive my own father who had mistreated me and my family, I now have a good relationship with him and we spend more time together than we have in years. At church I kept getting an image in my mind of a hand on my shoulder, and

I felt like God was saying, “You’re ok now, you’re with me”. God has shown me that there’s no reason to be scared or ever feel alone because I have Him with me always. Now I don’t worry about money, or who likes or dislikes me. For the first time I’m happy and safe.

Jodie: My experience with God over the last few months has been amazing, there are no words to describe it! He is in my soul and I feel him every day. Danny and I got married in March, and having a marriage with God at the centre has really changed me. Faith has brought such a wonderful peace upon our family and brought us closer together. God is now my focus, I trust him with everything and I

know he is guiding me into wonderful things. He calms my fears, stops my anger, reassures me and gives me a peace that I have never felt before. God makes a huge difference in my life, as I now see everything He has done for me and everything He has given me. He is my saviour!

I DIDN’T KNOW A CHURCH LIKE ACC EXISTED. I THOUGHT CHURCHES WERE COLD AND YOU HAD TO BE QUIET. I WAS WRONG!

I would encourage anyone to come to ACC with an open mind. You will meet amazing people, hear wonderful stories, feel God within you, and you will never look back!
