Risks to Your Data When it Gets “Out of the Box”

Our sensitive corporate data is safe and secure when it is tucked away in our ERM systems, but what happens

when it is removed. This is a look at the loss of security and increase in risk as information is extracted from

SAP for use by users on end user systems.

Scott Baker, CISSP, MSIA, Sr. Information Assurance Manager, Information Assurance, The Coca-Cola Company

Scott Baker is currently a Senior Information Assurance Manager in the Strategic Security and Aviation

Department of The Coca-Cola Company and has just celebrated his 27th year. He has worked in the

Information Assurance and Information Security fields for the past 17 years.

Scott entered the Information Technology field in 1983, and prior to moving to Information Security in 1996,

Guided Chart-of-Accounts Conversion in Four Steps

A chart- of- accounts conversion is becoming more of a priority in enterprises today. Most organizations use

chart-of-accounts that were designed and deployed many years ago and they do not reflect the business

Page 6: Agenda for the Georgia ASUG Meeting hosted by Newell Rubbermaid on Sep 20 2013

processes or requirements of today. But, because of the complexity and impact on business operations a

redesign of the chart-of-accounts is a risky and high impact project to undertake. Even the best reporting

products available cannot provide accurate and detailed reporting capability if the chart-of-accounts does not

accurately reflect how the business is TODAY. With the movement to Hana the opportunity to correct and

redesign the chart-of-accounts is even more important. SNP’s Transformation backbone provides for a guided

chart of accounts conversion in four steps. Software automation greatly lowers the risk and speeds up the

redeployment of the new chart of accounts including full data history.

SNP, the Transformation Company is the leading independent vendor of standard software for SAP

transformation. SNP has a huge track record and experience in consolidating SAP landscapes based on using

their standard software: SNP Transformation Backbone. Companies like Siemens, ABB, l'Oreal and many others

have significantly reduced the footprint of their SAP installation by leveraging SNP’s software and vast

experience.

Presentation Level: Beginner

Bernd Noll, VP, CTO, SNP America

With over 20 years of experience in the SAP space Bernd spent most of his professional career as an IT

manager, project manager and software architect. Since he joined SNP in 2001 he managed the design and

development process of some innovative and powerful SAP related software products that are the foundation of

SNP being a very successful business landscape transformation company.

In 2011 Bernd was given the opportunity to take part in SNP’s global expansion by becoming vice president and

CTO of the newly formed SNP America Inc. In this new role he is now conveying the products he formerly

created to the US market.

The Hidden Truths About Software Support

With the high cost of software support and maintenance, it is important to understand that there are options

beyond software publisher provided maintenance and large vendor outsourcing models. Gartner reports that

80% of IT operating budgets are allocated to ongoing operations and maintenance while 20% is allocated to new

IT initiatives . . . an IT allocation model that needs to be flipped on its head. .

In this presentation, you will learn about:

The state of the software support industry

What the analysts are saying about third-party options

How much other organizations are saving by switching to third-party support

Is There an Edward Snowden In Your Company?

Level: All

Companies spend a significant amount of time and money deploying Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

technologies from SAP to run their critical business processes. Such applications house a range of sensitive data,

information about their employees, customers, finances, how their product is built and other important

Page 7: Agenda for the Georgia ASUG Meeting hosted by Newell Rubbermaid on Sep 20 2013

company communications. Complex access controls ensure only authorized users have access to appropriate

data.

However, once information leaves the application in a format such as PDFs or spreadsheets. Previous access

control mechanisms are obsolete, rendering the data exposed and vulnerable.

Traditional data protection technologies such as DLP- and storage encryption solutions are often too late in the

process or are poor in classifying and detecting what is important content. The problem grows larger when huge

amounts of data ends up in cloud storage, such as Dropbox or SkyDrive.

So what is the right approach? How can organizations do a better job of finding and securing this data?

In this session Simon Thorpe will explain a better approach and attendees will learn;

Risks associated with data leaving applications.

The common methods deployed today and why they are failing.

Better ways to approach the problem

o Enabling users to easily classify information

o Securing sensitive data at the source

o Tracking activity for better compliance

Simon Thorpe, Project Manager, SECUDE IT

Simon Thorpe is the Product Manager and the newest addition to SECUDE’s executive team. He is responsible

for leading the company’s efforts in the area of securing exposed data, protecting the vast amount of confidential

information flowing from enterprise applications. He focuses on the design and building of SECUDE products,

while working with customers to define and deliver new solutions.

Simon has over15 years of experience and expertise in the technology and security industry. Simon joined

SECUDE from Microsoft, where he played a key role in facilitating Microsoft’s latest effort in the field of

information protection and was focused on document security, identity and access management, and secure

remote access solutions.

Simon previously worked at Microsoft and Oracle, where he played key roles working with customers,

developing solutions for document security, identity and access management and secure remote access. He is a

published author; most recently Simon contributed to the revised publication of The Complete Reference,

Enterprise Mobility – How Lifetime Brands is Using SMP to Revolutionize the Supply Chain

Lifetime Brands is North America’s leading resource for nationally branded kitchenware, tabletop, home décor

and lifestyle products. Lifetime’s products make it easier for you to prepare food, serve meals, entertain guests

and decorate your home. They offer brands you trust, value without compromise and an unwavering

commitment to innovation. You may not have heard of Lifetime Brands the company, but you know what they

sell: brands like Farberware, KitchenAid, Mikasa, Cuisinart, Pfaltzgraff, Guy Fieri and Kamenstein, among others.

Lifetime Brands approached Dickinson + Associates with a requirement to bring Quality Management processes

into SAP and allow users to interact with them on a mobile device. By utilizing the SAP Mobile Platform, the

team from Dickinson + Associates was able to put together an application that can support source inspections,

social compliance and vendor audits, CT/PAT inspections and create quality notifications. The application can

do this from anywhere on the planet, even when not connected to WiFi. This application is currently deployed

to users in the United States and China with plans for rollout to the UK.

This presentation outlines the reasons SAP Mobility Solutions made sense for Lifetime Brands and outlines the

technical solution supporting the very robust, custom front end application. Finally, the presentation ends with a

live demo of the application and various features that Lifetime Brands is using in the field today.

Tap the Full Value of SAP HANA through Effective Data Governance

Level: Beginner

The introduction of SAP HANA to the enterprise architecture brings efficiencies in both hardware and software

architecture. In the same way that introducing a highway presents a more direct route, the skills necessary to

traverse that path at high speed also need to be developed within the organization. In this presentation, we will

discuss how organizations making the leap to SAP HANA will also face strains in cultivating the “culture of data”

necessary to support data governance, data quality and data policy management to achieve the full value from

HANA.

the revenue to include new products and services in information governance.

In addition to hands-on product cultivation, Will has 10 years of senior executive experience in guiding business

development, international expansion, partnerships, line of business profit & loss as well as strategy consultation

to key accounts.

Getting started with Data Monitoring in 45 Minutes a Day

Level: Intermediate

Effectively Manage Data Volumes and Reduce TCO of SAP BW on HANA Using Sybase IQ as Near Line

Storage (NLS) Solution – A Step by Step Approach & SAP HANA Migration Strategy

Level: Intermediate

Migrating existing BW platforms to BW on HANA or implementing BW on HANA can be an expensive

proposition when you factor in the initial H/W and S/W costs required for migrating to HANA DB.

Additionally, if no strategy is defined for organic data growth the costs can pile up and drive the overall cost of

ownership – structured data alone has grown on average 40% per year.

During the course of this presentation we will illustrate using a customer use case – How organizations can

effectually control the growth of the system by offloading non-active data to the Sybase NLS, and reduce storage

costs without compromising the availability & performance of archived data in existing reporting & analytics. The

overall solution directly results in lower TCO and an uptick in agility due to reduced system administration

effort.

SAP Screen Personas & How They Enhance User Experience

Level: All

It is broadly perceived that enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have complex and unintuitive user

interfaces that negatively affects usability, frustrate users, and ultimately hinder their successful adoption and

utilization in organizations. With SAP Personas Delivery Program you can personalize targeted business

processes and screens of the SAP ERP application for different users without programming. SAP Personas

Delivery Program Drives Employee Enablement and SAP ERP Usability Less time spent in transactions driven by

beautiful and intuitive screens that promote transactional usability, decrease users errors, confusion and

frustration. SAP Personas Delivery Program Benefits- Example The VA01 transaction to create a customer sales

order is one of the most critical – and complex, multi tab/field transactions in SAP. It allows companies across a

variety of industries to capture the information they need to meet their customers’ order requirements.

Using SAP Personas, the sales order process can be simplified and streamlined through the use of dashboards

and the removal of all but the required data entry fields. Personas can also eliminate the requirement for data

entry staff to memorize transaction codes, customer codes, and other field level data abbreviations. The

scripting tool will allow users to combine information from other transactions onto a single screen and can

automate data entry with the push of a button. In addition, standard SAP Personas functionality will enable users

to look up order status information without leaving the dashboard screen they are currently using to create new

sales orders. It is important that you follow the steps in line with best practice to attain the foundational

elements you need for an easy and successful set up and end user training program.

SAP Usability Analysis: Foundational Element

The SAP Usability Analysis is conducted to evaluate user adoption pre- and post- go live, identify barriers to

successful use, and develop the business case for implementing SAP Screen Personas. Approach and Deliverables

Identify issues impacting SAP usage and determine the most appropriate options for addressing any

issues uncovered.
