Blackness filled the scene. Deep shadows drifted across the wall and specular lighting glanced off her face. He held his Leica nervously to his eye and snapped the decisive moment. Suddenly, a scream pierced the air.

Spend a fun morning with T.E. Garduque, FAIA, as he attempts to make the con-nection between film noir and still architectural photography. Recitation, his-tory and the sister art of filmmaking explored. Film directors Clint Eastwood (Western Film Noir); Alfred Hitchcock, John Huston, Roman Polanski and other nota-bles presented for inspiration.

Episode 2: The Mysterious Street 9:30 AM to Noon 2.5 CEU

Lurking in the darkness of the damp alley, his pulse quickened, breath fouled by a cigarette dangling from his lip. His victim stepped into the light, and he saw his opportunity and took the shot. Roaming the streets of Chinatown, Honolulu, participants will practice the genre of film noir as applied to still photography. Stealth and imagination re-quired.

He could not look away, the visual delight was too much, and his emotion between lust and benevolence, torn. The Leica, stealthy and quiet waited patiently for his master’s command: Should I shoot her, or should I not? It’s a wrap, film now sent to digital development! The afternoon session will be spent sharing Lightroom tips for editing and enhancement. Laptop and LR 6.0 CC software recommended. Trial version of LR 6.0 may be available online by Adobe. Lunch hour on your own, session will re-convene at 1:30 PM, end at 4:00 PM. For questions on this program please contact Kristin Nakagawa, AIA at:
