ChristmasAs we celebrate Jesus’ birthday inthe month of DecemberLook into the Bible for things toremember. When you decorate the tree withcolorful lights,Remember the star of Bethlehem thatshone that night. When wrapping the gifts for yourchildren or wife,Remember Jesus’ gift to us—He laiddown His life. When all the gifts are givenand received.Remember Jesus will receive us if weonly believe. When you hang the wreath on yourfront door.Remember the crown of thornsJesus wore. When you set up the manger underthe tree.Remember He was born and died foryou and me.As the tree lights go onChristmas night.Remember what Jesus said,“I am the Light.”As you are looking for that giftin store after store,Remember Jesus gave us the perfectgift—His life,He couldn’t give any more. When you tuck the childreninto their bed, always rememberwhat I said.“For by grace are ye saved, throughfaith and that not ofyourselves, it is the gift of God,not of works, lest any manshould boast.”

What is the greatest gift of all,God gave us the greatestof all?He gave us His Son Jesuswho died on the crossand rose againso we can spend eternity withHim in Heaven. It’s His Birthday, but we got the gift!Merry Christmas!Written byDolores S.

Tonight Is the Night! On the top of the world, close to the sky, is a little red

cabin aglow with bright light.A big man and his friendsWork hard every day, to make gifts

for children asleep far away. His heart is abound with love and

with joy, as he wraps up thislover for each girl and each boy.His deer are all ready to fly on

their way,Over the mountains, past roaring

over a long beard of white, nowaway the sleigh goes into

the night. The children await this man filled

with love, the love that he feelscomes from above! He flies here, and then there, to

Interesting Eggnog FactsBy Brian Rosso, R.D.Happy holidays! I hope you enjoy

these interesting facts about eggnog.Eggnog is also known as:• Coquito in Puerto Rico.• Rompope in Mexico.• Biersuppe in German.History shows that eggnog was first

enjoyed in America during the 18thcentury.

George Washington was a fanof eggnog.

One cup of eggnog contains 342calories, 34 grams of carbohydratesand 19 grams of fat.

The main ingredients of eggnogare:

• cream,• milk,• eggs (pasteurized eggs are the

safest—the only kind used atAmerican House),

• sugar,• cinnamon,• nutmeg and• alcohol, if you choose.Enjoy some eggnog this holiday

season!

meals, family gatherings and holidaycheer. We make the safety of ourresidents here at American HouseDearborn Heights a top priority.Maintenance Supervisor DarylRogalski would like to remind youof a few safety measures to practicethis holiday season and all year long.

Please practice the followingmeasures of safety:

1. Keep cooking grease/oils awayfrom the stove.

2. Do not leave stove unattendedwhile cooking or baking (do not attendactivities while leaving food items onthe stove unattended).

3. Do not use stove or space heateras a source of heating your apartment(increase the temperature on thethermostat).

4. If you have holiday lighting inyour apartment (Christmas trees, etc.),unplug all sources of lighting beforeyou go to bed.

5. Keep bathroom doors shutat all times during the heatingseason to prevent the thermostatfrom shutting off the furnace toosoon. By doing so, this will allowheat to travel through your entireapartment.
