6th Sunday in Ordinary Time

BLESSED Are They Who CHOOSE LIFE

FEB. 17

GLIMPSE OF FAITHCONFESSION and ABSOLUTION

May we receive Holy

Communion if we

forget to confess

a mortal sin

through

no fault

of our own?

If we forget

to confess

a mortal sin

through no fault of

our own, we may

receive Holy

Communion

because

we have made a

good confession

and the

sin is forgiven;

however we must

confess

the sin

in

our next confession.

What happens

if we

knowingly

conceal

a mortal sin

in confession?

If we knowingly

conceal a mortal sin

in confession,

the sins

we confess

are not forgiven;

moreover we

commit

a

mortal sin of

sacrilege.

What must

a person do

if he has

knowingly

concealed

a moral sin

in

confession?

A person

who has

knowingly

concealed

a mortal sin

in confession

must ask

strength from god

to be sincere

and

make a good

confession.

In this confession,

he must

tell the priest

that he has made

a bad confession,

reveal the sins

he has concealed,

mention

the sacraments

he has received

since that time.

And confess

all

the mortal sins

he has committed

since his

last

good confession,

including

those he disclosed

in the

previous

bad confession.

Why should a sense

of shame and fear

of telling our sins

to the priest never

lead us to conceal

a mortal sin

in

confession?

A sense of

shame

and

fear

of telling our sins

to the priest

should never

lead us

to conceal

a mortal sin

in

confession:

1st

we are before God,

our loving Father,

who is all-knowing

and all merciful;

2nd

concealing

a mortal sin

in confession

is a grave sacrilege;

3rd

the priest,

who represents

Christ himself,

is bound by the

seal of the

sacrament of penance

never

to reveal anything

that has been

confessed

to him.

Communion SongCommunion SongPrayer of St. Francis

1. Make me a channel

of Your peace. Where there is hatred let me bring Your love.

Where there is injury, Your pardon Lord,

and when there’s doubt,

true faith in You.

2. Make me a channel

of Your peace. Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope.

Where there is darkness only light, and where there’s sadness, ever joy.

BRIDGE:

O Master, grant that I may never seek. So much to be consoled

as to console.

To be understood as to understand,

To be loved as to love with all my soul.

3. Make me a channel

of Your peace. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.

In giving to all men that we receive.

And in dying that we’re born to eternal

life.
