What is APICS CPIM?

The APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification is recognized globally as the standard of professional competence in manufacturing and provides an in-depth view of production and inventory management, sales and operations planning (S&OP) and master scheduling, detailed scheduling and execution of operations, and the strategic management of resources.

Evaluation against a predetermined set of industry standards for knowledge, skills or competencies and independent of a class, course or training provider. The credential requires maintenance and post-nominal* acronyms are awarded.

Basics of Supply Chain Management

BSCM covers the basic concepts used in managing the complete flow of materials in a supply chain, from suppliers to customers

Introduces supply chain concepts and emphasizes basic terminology and relationships among activities in the supply chain

Knowledge of the material in this module is assumed as a prerequisite for the other APICS CPIM modules, which cover similar topics but in much greater depth.

Taking the CPIM exams

The five APICS CPIM exams consist of 75 multiple-choice questions (60 operational and 15 pretest), except for the Basics of Supply Chain Management which has 105 questions (80 operational and 25 pretest).

The pretest questions do not contribute to your total score, bur are necessary for research purposes. The pretest questions are randomly distributed throughout the exam and candidates will not know which questions are pretest. Candidates should answer all exam questions.

Candidates are allowed three hours to complete the CPIM exams.
