• Info needed : Range, Velocity, Direction

• Pulse Doppler– Expensive, but flexible and robust to interference

• Continuous Wave (CW)– Low cost, but measures speed only

• Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW)– Cost effective for speed and distance

– Chirped signal transmitted

– Intermediate Frequency proportional to range

– Doppler Frequency proportional to speed

• Beam-forming– Use of phased array – multiple antennae

– Phase info allows beam-forming to give direction
