Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus concludes his teaching about those who are “faithful and prudent stewards” with that classic stewardship teaching: “Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the per-son entrusted with more.” Christian stewards rec-ognize that God is the ultimate source of their gifts, talents, resources and aptitudes, and that God wants them to use these varied gifts in his service. This week might be a good time to reflect on our God-given gifts. Are we using those gifts to serve the Lord? If Christ came back to us unexpectedly tomorrow would we be able to give a full accounting of how we have exercised stewardship over these gifts? ~From catholicstewardship.com

Gospel: Luke 12:32-48 We must be ready for God to act in our lives at any time! Question for Children: Jesus tells us to always be ready to hear him. What are some ways that he speaks to us? Question for Youth: If Jesus were to knock on your door today and give you a report card on your life as His disciple, what grade would you get? Where would be your areas for improvement? Question for Adults: On a daily basis, what are some ways to keep yourself “ready for God to act?” How do you pay attention to God’s often-less-than-obvious actions?

COMFORT THOSE WHO MOURN The following is from “Solace and Strength in the Sorrow of Miscar-riage” 2014-15 Respect Life Program, USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activi-ties (www.goo.gl/vZPuiL): “miscarriage includes emotional, rela-

tional and spiritual suffering that requires assistance from family, friends and church leaders. IAlthough we may feel unsure how best to comfort those who mourn, we must stand with them in their time of suffering.” Please pray for those suffering the loss of a child: May Christ comfort them with his everlasting love.

Faith

Trust, belief, conviction. optimism, Hopefulness. The words, faith, belief, I believe, faithfulness, in noun or verb

Appears approximately 493 times In the text. Seems to be important, huh!

In this world of instability, faith is Sometimes hard to continue to have.

However, it is the cornerstone of Christianity.

We say the creed every Sunday. We Say the rosary, and pray at meals.

We pray for the needs of others and For our families. All these are acts of

Faith.

The Text today states: Faith is the Realization of what is hoped for and

Evidence of things not seen. Faith, mercy that is alive.

St. Vincent de Paul "West Side” Changing Lives Forever -

Bridges out of Poverty

Many of our efforts involve helping people with short term solutions to their needs instead of helping to elimi-nate their need. One way to provide long term help is a learning opportunity we call "West Side” Changing Lives Forever - Bridges out of Poverty. It is a joint ef-fort with Saint Anthony, Saint Christopher, Saint Gabriel and Saint Michael SVdP Conferences.

This training is a Facilitator supported, group based, study program conducted by 12 "Investigators". The Investigators are people who have decided to improve their lives in any of eleven areas including financial, spiritual, mental, etc. so they can move away from gov-ernment and other assistance.

The most recent class started Monday April 18. We still need Mentors, meals and childcare volunteers for the class. The training lasts about 18 weeks. For more in-formation about becoming a mentor please check out http://trustedmentors.org/

These people need our help. They have decided to im-prove their lives, how can you help? Is God calling you to share your skills or time?

If you would like more information on how you might be able to help please call or text Paul Guenin at 317-627-2309 or [email protected].

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Last week in my homily I discussed Michelangelo’s “The Creation of

Adam,” arguably the most significant of the vignettes of salvation histo-

ry in the Sistine chapel in Vatican City (below). One of the most fasci-

nating and overlooked aspects of this work (I never would have seen it

if not told by a friend that worked in the Vatican Museums) is that Mi-

chelangelo used the same model for both Adam and God. It may seem

like laziness or thriftiness on the part of Michelangelo (and for all I

know maybe it was!), but this characteristic of the work shines light on

one of the most fundamental and beautiful truths of our faith: us being

created in the image and likeness of God. This beautiful gift of our human dignity gives us

the ability to know, love, and work with Him. It also gives the responsibility of being His

stewards and to care for each other and the rest of creation as He would. Let us cherish and

use this gift to the best of our abilities. Remember, we are “built” for it!

Yours in Christ,

Father Matt
