Author’s note
Why putting on another show about Edith Piaf?
Because I needed this one in my life... My life which has been enriched by the encounters, discussions and experiences with her close friends and confidants.
I needed to shout loud and clear my admiration for Piaf and my tenderness for Edith.
I needed to slip through her shadows and lights and write a very personal book in order to meet her again.
As for me, there will never ever be enough ways to celebrate the woman who turned the world upside down with her own voice and who is still an iconic figure which proves that any-thing can be possible, a figure which can still be a symbol of hope today.
Her heart, which was beating so kindly and generously, made millions of other hearts beat. It is not a surprise that it suddenly stopped beating, exhausted after 47 years…
That is why Stéphane, Sébastien, Didier, Alfred, Fredo and I are now 6 hearts which keep on beating for her…

Edith Piaf and Nathalie LermitteIs it an encounter? A stroke of fate?Nathalie had nothing specific a priori to perform the role of Edith Piaf in several shows (Piaf Je t’aime, Piaf une vie me rose et noir,...), to tell the audience about her life and sing her songs in the TV show Chabada for more than a year, to meet her close friends Georges Moustaki, Fred Mella, Michel Rivegauche, Francis Lai * (who composes for Nathalie her tribute song) and more recently Charles Dumont who will ask her to share the stage with him for its recital about Piaf...Nothing except a song which was constantly playing in her child’s bedroom when she was 4 years old, a song which will make her heart beat for years.It is with the same emotion that Nathalie has travelled the world to deliver with the same passion «the good words». The words which are Edith’s, the words of authenticity...
«Piaf gave me what she’s been looking for during all her life... Love» and in return, Nathalie has so much love to give to Piaf... And to you, their audience...
* When Nathalie asked Francis Lai (the composer of Claude Lellouche’s movies, Love Story and Piaf ’s last composer) to write a song for her, with words by Frede-ric Zeitoun, a song which would be a tribute to Piaf, he did not hesitate a single second ! This song, «la voix de ma vie» (the voice of my life) was written in a few days and is finally the last song written for Piaf.
The curtain opens on the basement floor of 67 bis Boulevard Lannes, Piaf ’s last home.
Two musicians and a young lady are waiting in the main hall of this legendary place, where the soul and spirit of the Great Lady is so much present…
So much present that her life seems to be keeping on going in front of our eyes… Hiding behind shadows, so we can put light on her…
This light is the light which will permit to enlighten her life, her tears, her laughs, her songs, which will go from surprises to surprises…
She was Piaf, but she was also Edith… Were these two ladies the same?Maybe not… But the two were undoubtedly guided by love…

The songs
From 2003 until 2014, she has been playing the principal role in a biographical musical she directed from 2009, “Piaf, une vie en rose et noir” which has been staged all over the world.
After all these successful experiences, she creates with Jacques Pessis “Brel de Bruxelles aux Marquises” which was pres-ented during 3 years in Paris.
In 2012, she play Fiona’s part in “Shrek, the musical” at Casino de Paris.
She was also a musical commentator in the TV show “Chabada” during 4 years every Sunday at 5PM on France 3.
Nathalie LermitteAuthor, Director and Performer
Singing is undoubtedly Nathalie Lermitte’s vocation. Indeed, at the age of six, she starts to sing in a rock band ! Should we precise her father was the leader of the band…
Nathalie’s eighteenth birthday coincides with the release of her first single “Tu es tout ce que j’aime” (You are all I love), 400.000 units of which were sold. In 1995, Herbert Leonard and her sing for the opening act of Michel Leeb’s show at the worlwide famous Olympia in Paris. At the same time, Nathalie is recording several songs for TV shows and animated series.
1989 is an important year for her as she starts to perform the role of Crystal in “Starmania” (Tycoon), the musical, a role she will perform during 3 years at Théâtre Marigny in Paris, and then for the national tour of the musical, before Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.
A few months later, she will play Wendy’s part in “Peter Pan” the musical, directed by Alain Marcel, at Casino de Paris. After a stay in England, she will have the pri-vilege to personify Edith Piaf in “Piaf je t’aime” in Paris at the Eldorado Theatre, and then at the Gymnase Marie Bell theatre, before an in-ternational tour.
In 2002, she has the opportunity to play the part of Oliver Twist in the musical “The adven-tures of Oliver Twist”, directed and adapted by Ned Grujic (from Dickens’s novel).
She also plays the parts of Guinevere and The Lady of the Lake in “Merlin” a musical directed and adapted by Ned Grujic.
Stéphane VélardMetteur en scène, Concepteur lumière
Passionné de musique et des arts vivants, il consacre ses jeunes an-nées à l’émergence des radios FM
(animateur, directeur des programmes puis crée sa propre station) en France dans les années 80. Avec la proximité des artistes qu’il reçoit dans ses émissions, il comprend rapidement que son envie de création ne pourra être que sur le terrain, sur la scène. Naturellement appelé par la lumière, c’est donc la scénographie et la conception lumière qui lui permettent de partager sa sensibilité et les émotions des artistes avec qui il collabore.
Emotions partagées entre autre avec : Judith Magre, Howard Butten (Buffo), Evelyne Bouix, Bernard Murat, Jean Pierre Marielle, Pierre Arditi, Laurent Baffie, Eric et Ramzy, Vincent Lagaff, Smaïn, Pascal Legitimus, Les chevaliers du fiel, Anthony Kavanagh, Axelle Lafont, Sandrine Alexis, Sheila, Gilbert Becaud, Gerard Blanc, Dany Brillant.
Collaboration avec plusieurs grandes re-vues, comédies musicales, chorégraphes et festivals.
Durant plusieurs tournées, on l’a re-trouvé sur quelques scènes internatio-nales au Japon, aux Etats-Unis, dans les Pays de l’Est et en Europe.Son métier d’accompagnateur et d’ar-rangeur sur scène et en studio lui a per-mis d’être aux côtés de grands artistes : Enrico Macias, Line Renaud, Guy Lux, Pascal Danel, Nathalie Lermitte, Alain Souchon, Laurent Voulzy, Julie Pietri, Christina Rosmini, Vincent Heden, Marcel Azzola, Didier Lockwood, pour les plus connus.
Reconnu par ses pairs, il continue à mener de grands projets musicaux d’univers différents pour que vive son amour pour la musique et justifie une vraie vocation.
Sébastien DebardArrangeur, Pianiste, Accordéoniste
Après des études au Conserva-toire National de Musique et diplômé de concours prestigieux
dès son plus jeune âge, il entre dans l’univers professionnel de la musique et du théâtre en 1994.
Dès 1995 il se produit en concert en France et à l’étranger et en parallèle, assure la direction d’un orchestre pen-dant une dizaine d’année.
Sa rencontre avec Patrice Peyriéras (Chef d’orchestre de renommée inter-nationale) qui deviendra son parrain dans la musique, le conduit à travail-ler en tant que pianiste et accordéo-niste soliste depuis 1998 dans diverses comédies musicales, pour les plus mar-quantes :
"La cage aux folles" célèbre comédie musicale de Broadway adaptation Française mise en scène par Alain Mar-cel au théâtre Mogador.
"Camille C." Molière 2005 du spectacle inattendu mise en scène par Jean-Luc Moreau.
«Bistro» mise en scène par Anne Bour-geois au théâtre de l’Oeuvre. «Barber» production Franco-Japonnaise en tour-née au Japon et en France depuis 2011, mise en scène par Francis Perrin.
"Gospel sur la colline" mise en scène par Jean-Luc Moreau, (représentations 2015 aux Folies Bergères et tournée des Zéniths en France).
Didier VillalbaContrebassiste
Didier a commencé très jeune à jouer sur scène (13 ans).
Ouvert à tous les styles de musique , il participe à de nombreux projets (jazz, rock, cabaret, variété, etc...)
À l’age de 20 ans, il part s’installer à Paris où il travaille avec : C.Jérome, Frédéric François, David Alexandre Winter, Michel Leeb, Les Charlots, Charlotte Julian....
Il participe aussi à de nombreuses séances de studio (dernier CD : « Pu-tain d’étoile » Pascal Danel). Il a tra-vaillé au Quebec avec le groupe Chaki-dor pour une tournée de trois mois, il a participé à des ateliers basse - batterie avec : Loic Pontieux, Marc Jacmain, Michael Boudou, Joe Hammer...
Alfred PerrinHomme de l’ombre
«Je veux faire de mes passions, mon métier »… Cette phrase a été un véritable moteur dans le choix de
ses orientations professionnelles. Elle explique la diversité de ses compétences qui lui ont permis de créer le « concept » d’1si2suite : l’accompagnement de per-sonnes à différents stades de leur vie (enfant, adulte, parent) tant au niveau de leurs loisirs que de leur évolution personnelle.
Attiré dans un premier temps par le monde de l’animation et des enfants, il travaille comme animateur puis direc-teur de centres de vacances. Il dirige des ateliers de cirque qui lui donnent envie de faire une école de cirque puis une école de spectacle avec chant, danse et théâtre. Il crée alors sa compagnie. Plu-sieurs créations depuis sont nées : spec-tacles de rue et comédie musicale jeune public (Ulysse). Parallèlement, il est devenu coproducteur de la comédie musicale « Oli-ver Twist ». Il a prit part à la création du pre-mier festival de comédies musicales à Béziers. En 2011-2012, il a travaillé en tant qu’assistant metteur en scène de Ned Grujic, ainsi qu’assistant de pro-duction sur Hairspray, Frankenstein. Junior et Shrek.

Et maintenant le plaisir de parta-ger les succès d’hier, d’aujourd’hui et surtout de demain de Nathalie en compagnie de toute l’équipe....
Début des années 80 dans la fabri-cation de produits électroniques et de diffusions pour DJ, night
club et podium, puis régisseur de spec-tacle, de la petite salle de province en passant par les podiums, petits et grands, mais toujours de qualités, jusqu’aux plus grandes salles de spectacles. Rien ne l’arrête, il s’adapte partout... Donc il en a sonorisé des chanteurs et spectacles musicaux. Une collaboration avec Pascal DANEL, dans les grandes années 80/90, lui a permis de faire de grandes tour-nées, Podium RMC, Podium RICARD, Podium ACCLR....- Régisseur du «pavillon des découvertes Fête en liberté» et là il y en a eu, à la pelouse de Reuilly..!
Puis tout s’enchaine avec Bernard SAU-VAT au «Bistrot du musée», Nicoletta, Nicole CROISILLE, Henri TACHAN, Charles DUMONT, Didier Lockwod, Nicole RIEUX, Georges CHELON, Los CALCHAKIS, Duo SCARAMOUCHE, Leny ESCUDERO, Alain TURBAN, François DEGUELT, et tant d’autres...- « L’OREAL » (Paris) Régisseur général, responsable de l’installation des infras-tructures et encadrement du personnel pour « Mondial De La Coiffure » et le concours du meilleur ouvrier de France..
