MARKET UPDATE - BANGLADESHAUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
The Bangladesh economy has been one of the top performers in Asia over the past decade, averaging annual growth of more than 6%.
Around 15,000 private cars imported on average each year, according to Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association.
Import data showed 11% rise to 19,000 units in fiscal 2015-16 compared to fiscal 2014-15.
A large portion of consumer financing is directed to the automobile sector, with the auto loan portfolio of more than three dozen private commercial banks increasing at an average of 44.25% in in the past three years, as reported by Bangladesh Bank.
