Beccles Lido is a success story of national significance

which was recognised in November 2011 with a Big Society

award from the Prime Minister. It has demonstrated the

power of local communities and has given the town a

sense of pride. There were very few people who thought

that a bunch of unqualified local people could turn a

derelict facility into one that the whole region is proud of.

And even fewer thought they could turnaround a facility

losing over £50,000 each year.

There is a huge volunteer effort behind this success but the

Lido has also created over 30 new seasonal jobs which are

much sought after, particularly by young people. Although

the really hard work is complete it will require continued

fund-raising to ensure it remains a thriving facility. The

Lottery raises over £5,000 annually and each month there

are three lucky winners with the first prize now over £200.

And if more people sign up the prize money will grow!

The objective of the Beccles Lido Lottery is the

collection of funds to support the operation and

upkeep of the open air swimming pool in Beccles.

All proceeds will be given to the charity.

The controls of the lottery and administration of

the funds are the responsibility of the trustees of

Beccles Lido Limited and all decisions relating to

any matters regarding the lottery or the fund

should be referred to them.

District Council under the Gambling Act 2005

Prizes The Beccles Lido Lottery is drawn on the second

Friday of each month, with prizes allocated as follows:

1st prize 25% of subscriptions (400 tickets = £250)

2nd prize 15% of subscriptions (400 tickets = £150)

3rd prize 10% of subscriptions (400 tickets = £100)

How it works Tickets are £2.50 per month and to make things

simple, subscriptions are paid by standing order on

the 27th day of each month.

Or if you prefer, pay £30 annually in advance by

cheque.

Prize money will be paid to the winners within five

days of the draw taking place. A list of the winners

for the current month will be displayed on our

website. The Lottery is open to anyone over the age

of 16.

There is no minimum period for subscription. If at

any time you wish to withdraw from the lottery, you

simply contact your bank and cancel your standing

order.

The money raised will be used at the discretion of the

Trustees, but for example it bought our fantastic giant

inflatable aquarun!
