Corning Data Centre Solutions

40-100Gig Ready

Corning ClearCurve FibreData centre operators have an exhaustive list of desirable parameters in order to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of their facilities, and here at Corning we strive to exceed their expectations. We interviewed over 3,000 operators and the outcome remained the same The infrastructure must be reliable, high quality, flexible, manageable, scalable and visible to support a 24/7/365 operation without question.

The universal wired modular system components provide simplistic management for quick and easy networking MACs with none of the polarity concerns associated with special polarity-compensating components.

It is critical that your data centre infrastructure meets your needs

today, but it is just as important that it can handle what is to

come. Bandwidth demands are continually increasing, and the

data centre infrastructure you install today should be able to

support the network speeds of tomorrow. Based on Corning’s

technical expertise and testing procedures, Corning Optical

Communications provides assurance that deployment of its Plug &

Play Universal Systems today will support the migration path to

100G Ethernet in the future.

Corning ClearCurve OM3 and OM4 multimode fibre is designed to withstand tight bends, up to 10 times that of standard fibre cable and challenging cabling routes with substantially less signal loss than traditional multimode fibre. This optical fibre allows designers, installers and operators of enterprise networks (including local area networks, data centres and industrial networks) to use optical fibre in more places by delivering all of the bandwidth benefits of laser-optimized multimode optical fibre in a package that is easier to handle and install.

Your Data Centre SolutionsBlue Helix offer the full range of warranted Corning structured cabling solutions, designed with the data centre in mind.

MTP® Solutions

Parallel OpticsCorning EDGE High Density Solutions

Traffic Access Points (TAP) for Monitoring Cornings pre-terminated MTP solutions are used extensively within

the modern fibre optic structured cabling environment of data

centres and large scale intelligent building applications. Those high

fibre count connectors are used in backbone cabling to allow quick

deployment or be used for aggregation of fibres on the backside

to breakout modules or harnesses to single fibre connectors.

Pretium EDGE AO solutions allow for design flexibility based on the

unique requirements Of your data centre by offering both module

and harness components. Pretium EDGE AO solutions delivers

efficiency by ensuring 100 percent trunk fibre utilisation at 40 and

100G. The solution’s conversion modules and Harnesses breakout

12-fibre connectivity from the trunk into 8 fibre connectivity for

mating to electronics.

Transmission at 40G is based on using eight fibres in the link – four

transmitting at 10G in each direction. The anticipated 100GBASE SR4

standard will also utilise eight fibres at 4 X 25G in each direction.

Corning Optical Communications LANscape® Pretium ®EDGE

Solutions are high density pre-terminated optical cabling systems

that simplify installation and improve performance in data centre

environments. Pretium EDGE Solutions provide increased system

density and offer the highest port density in the market. The

modular system approach with pre-terminated components

allows for reduced installation time and faster moves, adds and

changes (MACs).

Corning Optical Communicationsfactory-terminated solutions

provide improved system performance, ensure component

compatibility and yield consistent quality. Pretium EDGE consists of

optical trunks and extender trunks, modules, harnesses, housings

and jumpers with reduced cable diameters and bending radii,

enabled by ClearCurve optical fibre.

Pretium EDGE tap modules, part of Pretium EDGE solutions for data

centres and storage area networks (SAN), enable passive optical

tapping of the network while reducing downtime and link loss, and

increasing rack space utilisation and density compared to other

optical tap options.

Plug & PlayPretium EDGE® SE Splice Cassettes

New Trunk Design with 2.0mm legs

Corning Optical Communications Plug & Play™ Universal Low-Loss

Systems are pre-terminated optical fibre cabling systems designed

to dramatically improve performance for the increasing demand for

high speeds in data centre applications. This innovative, value added

system significantly reduces

installation time and cost by

streamlining the process of

deploying an optical networking

infrastructure in the premises

environment, particularly in data

centre applications Corning

Optical Communications Plug &

Play Universal Low-Loss Systems

consist of low-loss modules, low-

loss trunks and extender trunks,

low-loss harnesses and low-loss

jumpers.

The Pretium EDGE SE solution can accommodate fusion splicing

or Direct termination. The cassette features LC duplex Adapters

with integrated dust caps which provide protection for the internal

connectors and a translucent finish for ease of fibre identification.

The cable entry in the rear of the cassette allows for multiple cable

options from loose tube cable designs to tight-buffered cables.

Combining the adapters, strain-relief and splice organisers all

together in the cassette allows for superior fibre handling and

safety of terminated fibres giving greater flexibility and confidence

in Day 2 moves, adds and changes (MACs).

The new Pretium EDGE® and Plug&Play MTP® trunks are

preterminated cables with 12-fibre MTP Connectors on either side

in a new design. All legs with 2.0mm provide more space and

flexibility for handling in housings.

The trunks build up the major skeleton of the passive network

infrastructure, and thanks to the superior design including Corning®

ClearCurve® fibres, they enable rapid deployment for your campus

LAN or data centre facility.

All trunks are shipped with strain-relief clips that allow for the tool-

less installation in both Pretium EDGE and Plug and Play™ system

housings. These trunks conform to TIA-568 Type-B polarity.

Pretium PCH Housings FutureCom Shielded Copper

Unicam Connectors

Pretium PCH housings mount in 19-in racks or cabinets and provide

industry-leading high density connectivity when combined with

Pretium Plug&Play modules, panels, harnesses, trunks and patch

cords. All Pretium PCH housings come with Integrated routing

guides for patch cable integration to the cabinet.

The adjustable mounting brackets provide flexible installation

options for back-to-back or flush-mounting requirements.

The new quickmount feature makes it quick and easy for one

person to install the housing with little effort.

Field-installable UniCam® connectors provide a high quality

alternative to epoxy and polish connectors. They provide simple,

quick and reliable connector installation on site. Fibre stubs are

pre-installed in the ferrules of the UniCam connectors at the factory,

thus eliminating the critical epoxy and polish operations in the field.

This approach also allows the necessary high quality, controlled

end-face processing to be performed as part of the production

process in the factory, thus reducing field technician influence to a

minimum. On site, the stripped and cleaved field fibres are inserted

into the UniCam connectors and retained. A mechanical splice

inside the connector establishes the low-loss connection between

the field fibre and the preinstalled fibre inside the connector.

Corning’s FutureCom™ integrated system solution for shielded

copper cabling satisfies all requirements of current standards

and provides the highest system performance.

The FutureCom™ suite ranges from category 5/5e (class D) solutions

up to category 6A, and category 7/7A (class F/FA) for high-end

multimedia transmission.

Corning Optical Communications FutureCom™ EA System is

specially designed to support 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBase-T) over

100 meters with enhanced performance margin.

The FutureCom™ EA System offers high network performance

and security with second-to-none alien cross talk protection that
