Noula Knight, Back to Work

It is amazing how many new skills you can gain in such a short space of time. I’ve really enjoyed the course, I learnt so much and I met many people who were in the same situation as me.

Page 3: Bournville College Adult Course Guide 2010

We are pleased to bring you our September course guide. It is packed with a broad range of courses which will help you improve your skills, increase your career prospects, return to work, develop a hobby or simply meet new friends.

Make the most of our 10% early enrolment discount on tuition fees on most courses if you enrol before Friday 13th August. The discount does not apply to courses marked with # or *. Normal terms and conditions apply. We look forward to welcoming you to Bournville College!

Take your time to browse through this brochure. When you have found the course that you are interested in, check if you can enrol direct or whether you need to attend an interview or assessment prior to your enrolment. If an assessment is required, please call 0121 483 1111 to book it in advance.

Further information about each course is available on our website www.bournville.ac.uk. If you are unsure about your options, don’t worry. Just pop in to an enrolment session (dates are printed on the back cover) and speak to one of our advisors who will be able to recommend a course that is right for you.

Paying for your studyWe will advise you about fee information, costs involved and concessions available when you enquire about your course.

If you are paying for your course, please bring a method of payment with you - cash, debit or credit card (the college does not accept cheques). If your fees are to be paid wholly or in part by your employer, please bring a letter from your employer or an official purchase order. In most cases, fees are annual and payment is required at enrolment. In the case of courses longer than 15 weeks which exceed £100, arrangements for part-payment can be made. These are subject to a £10 administration charge.

It is important to bear in mind that additional costs may be incurred for materials and specialist equipment.

Helping you meet the cost of your studyThere are a range of concessions, additional funding and reductions to help you meet the costs of studying. For example, you may be eligible for free tuition fees if your course is part-funded by the Skills Funding Agency and you fall into one of the following categories:

Working Tax Credit (household income less than £15,276), Housing Benefit, Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit only). Council Tax Benefit (25% single occupancy discount does not apply) or Employment Support Allowance (income-related only)

• An unwaged dependant of someone in the above categories• Enrolling for the first time on a full-time level 2 qualification• Enrolling on Apprenticeship training for learners aged under 25• Enrolling on Prince’s Trust, Entry to Employment or Literacy

& Numeracy courses• If you are employed, self-employed or a volunteer you may be eligible

Please note that these concessions relate to tuition fees only. Awarding body costs and exam fees are the responsibility of learners aged 19 and over - please enquire about funding options that may be available, dependant on your individual circumstances.
