Property Management

1818

Property management involves the leasing, managing, marketing, and maintenance of real estate.

48© Real Estate Institute | InstituteOnline.com

Broker Pre-License Topics

In ILLINOIS…• Property management requires a real estate license, and

an individual real estate licensee must perform property management services under the supervision of his or her sponsoring broker.

• The Real Estate License Act of 2000 exempts resident managers from licensure requirements when their primary residence is on the premises being managed.

• Illinois permits individuals whose real estate practice is limited to leasing or renting residential property, collecting rent, negotiating leases, and similar activities to obtain a special Residential leasing agent license instead of the broader-scope broker license.
