Extensive Drone Video of Grand Forks & East Grand Forks CapturedOver 5 hours of drone video capturing locations throughout Grand Forks and East Grand Forks were shot by iSight Drone Services at the peak of fall colors. The video will be available to the Chamber CVB, Way Cooler and other public initiatives aimed at promoting Grand Forks. The video will be used to produce a drone video tour of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. Thanks to the Greater GF Economic Development Corporation, Convention and Visitors Bureau and Altru for partenering on this effort.
We would like to thank Chamber Member Skip Greenberg, Greenberg Realty who suggested “as a drone capital we should have some drone video on You Tube and community web sites providing a virtual tour of the Grand Cities.”

Chamber President Meets with ACC Leadership
Chamber President Barry Wilfahrt was in Langley VA at Air Combat Command to meet with a variety of ACC senior staff and General Mark Kelly the new ACC Commander.
A variety of topics were discussed including: - I will e-mail you Wednesday night with this info
Wilfahrt was there as one of the 17 ACC Civic Leaders. The Civic Leaders are appointed by the Air Force and serve as a connection between Command Senior Leaders and the local Air Bases and Communities
where ACC Bases are located.
A in depth visit with Grand Forks Leadership led by Mayor Bochenski is planned for early 2021 to continue to build on the relationship between the Grand Forks Community and Base HQ Leadership.
Ag Banquet Pivots to New Approach for 2020
Close to 500 gift cards will be sent out to area farmers as a token of the GF/EGF Businesses Communities appreciation for the many contributions farmers and agriculture in general contribute to the local economy. The gift cards along with information on the Chamber Agriculture Committee will replace the traditional Farmer Appreciation Banquet in 2020. Special thanks to Cedric Citrowske, True North Equipment and Jen Otteson, Countryside Crop Insurance for helping compile the list of active producers.
Senator Hoeven Talks Base Retention
US Senator John Hoeven met with the Mayor’s Base Retention Committee to talk about upgrades to the Global Hawk, potential future missions and the ongoing need to maintain and modernize GFAFB Infrastructure.
Business After Hours for November Update
Tighter COVID restrictions have forced the Chamber to cancel the regular scheduled business after hours event for November. Hopefully, COVID positives will decline in coming weeks and we can resume the normal Business After Hours schedule. Please see page 9 for more details on something new.

sLocal Leaders Tour the new Water Treatment Plant
The Chamber’s Business Government Education Alliance (BGEA) toured the new 150 million dollar local water treatment plant. The plant is state of the art membrane technology. The group was joined by City Council Members, the Mayor, and a half dozen current and past legislators who were so instrumental in funding the project. The water plant was on the “Team Grand Forks” legislative agenda for four sessions and just over half of the plants total cost was covered by the State of ND saving local rate payer millions.
2019-2020 4-H Senior Representative Member
Congratulations to Emily McHugo & Kaden Olson for being chosen as 2019-2020 Representative Senior 4-H Member. The Chamber Agribusiness Co-Chair, Cedric Citrowske presented the award to these two outstanding 4-H members at the 74th Grand Forks County 4-H Awards Banquet on Sunday, October 18th in Reynolds, ND.
Thank you to the 4-H Council for all you do for our kids and our community.
The recipients of the 2019-2020 Representative Senior 4-H Member Award have been selected for their involvement in leadership responsibilities, observable gains in personal development, active participation in 4-H events and activities, acquisition of presentation skills learned through talks, reports and demonstrations, along with committee and group involvement during their total 4-H career.
Chamber President visits Air Combat Command Headquarters
What is the ACC? ACC stands for “Air Combat Command” The ACC headquarters at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA, is a major command. It was created June 1, 1992, by combining Strategic Air Command and Tactical Air Command. ACC is the primary provider of air combat forces to America’s warfighting commanders
Barry Wilfarht explains that, “a variety of topics were discussed,” including: planning an upcoming Grand Forks Base Retention Delegation visit with the new ACC Commander, the great base infrastructure at Grand Forks Air Force Base, the current missions at GFAFB, and the impact of Federal budget changes and potentially less money for national defense.

E Henry Havig Nominations NOW BEING ACCEPTED2020 Henry Havig Award For Community Service
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2020 Henry Havig Award for Community Service. This is The Chamber’s most prestigious award and is given annually to those special individuals who stand above the crowd by their dedication to our community through community service in multiple volunteer leadership roles. It is an award that recognizes individuals who have provided exemplary voluntary leadership service to our community over a long period of time and in a broad spectrum of community activities. Nominees must be at least 36 years of age and have proven leadership qualities, commitments to community based organizations and the desire to improve the quality of life in our community.The Havig Award for Community Service is given in memory of a great community leader. Henry Havig was president of the board of the chamber in 1955-1956 and was a long time successful businessman who contributed greatly to our community as a member of the Grand Forks City Council and a life-long contributor to the YMCA.

RE-The 2020 Membership Drive initially began in March 10th but was soon put on hold for a few months while we all adjusted to the changing world. We Re-Focused and Re-Started the Drive September 15th and wrapped up October 16th.

I, Geizy, come from Puerto Rico and my hometown’s name is Arecibo, best known as the villa of Captain Belt for being a coast town that pirates
used to hide their treasures in.
I moved to Grand Forks ND on June 2016 and this town welcomed me in the most amazing way and I felt at home. I am very excited to start this new chapter in my life where I can be of help and of service to others. Helping others is my passion and I feel that at Prairie Harvest Mental Health and The Home Place Thrift Store I can do just that and give back to the people as they once gave me.
I am a very crafty person and the things I love the most are reading, watching crime solving shows, baking, and spending time with my wonderful family.

Olstad Joins Widseth’s Aerial Team
Casey Olstad has joined Widseth as a Lidar Techni-cian/Sensor Operator. She holds an As-sociate of Ap-plied Science in geospatial intelligence
analysis from Northland Commu-nity and Technical College, Thief River Falls.
Olstad’s responsibilities include working on specialized LiDAR surveys, digital orthophotography, and photogrammetry projects. Other tasks include assisting with data processing such as calibra-tion, cleaning and classification, and producing highly accurate mapping for engineering and transportation design applications.
Widseth is a multi-discipline firm of more than 200 employees pro-viding engineering, architecture, land surveying, and environmen-tal services. Its offices are located in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Alexandria, Bemidji, Brainerd, Crookston, East Grand Forks, For-est Lake, Mankato, and Rochester, Minnesota.
