1 Basic Information CADISON Release 6.0.3 is the latest release of the CADISON software. The changes from Release 6.0.2 are primarily corrections of errors. In addition, the templates and integration for ADT2004 have been created. The Network License Manager (NLM) has been adapted accordingly based on changed security guidelines. Please observe the remarks in Chapter 2.5 on this matter. The remarks for installation and update of older CADISON releases, such as those in the Release Notes 6.0.2 and earlier, must still be observed. This document can be found in PDF format on the ITandFactory GmbH Internet site under www.ITandFactory.com/customer_care.

1.1 Global changes 1.1.1 CADISON clipboard in the article database Category: Administration In the CADISON basic setting, the CADISON clipboard is now always stored in the article database. If the clipboard should be stored in the system database, as previously, the following entry must be added in CDSN60.INI under [PHi-CADISON]:

CLIPBOARD_IN_ARTDB=OFF

1.1.2 Number of selected objects in the dialogs In the lower right of the “Delete objects” and “Copy objects” dialogs, there is now a number that specifies the number of selected objects. This refers to the selection of subordinate or superordinate objects.

1.1.3 ITF tools are now available in English ITF tools are now also available in an English language environment.

1.1.4 Revision of the supplied dictionaries In CADISON Release 6.0.3, the English dictionaries we supply have been revised, expanded and updated.

1.1.5 DEFREAD.EXE and TRANSLATOR.EXE Category: Administration The tools DEFREAD.EXE and TRANSLATOR.EXE are no longer supplied starting with CADISON Release 6.0.3. These two programs are necessary only for the adaptation of object models.

1.1.6 Length of user names in CADISON Category: Administration The user names created via the PDM in CADISON User Management must not be longer than 15 characters (A-Z, 0-9, no special characters). The reason lies in the takeover of user names from the operating system and also in the boundary conditions based on the Versant database boundary conditions. If longer user names are used, unforeseen results can occur.

2 Installation 2.1 Requirements This version of the CADISON software has been tested and approved for release under the following conditions:

Operating systems: Windows 2000 Prof. (SP1 – SP4) Windows 2000 Server (SP1 – SP4) Windows XP Prof. (SP1)

Windows 2003 server for the areas • Network License Manager (NLM service) • Versant service (database server) • Work directory (file server)

Partitions: CADISON is intended for use with an NTFS partition. Installation and use of

CADISON under a FAT partition can lead to undesired side effects. AutoCAD: ACAD 2000i ACAD 2002 ACAD 2004 ADT 2004 with SP2 (MPP 2004 (Some successful tests for this have been conducted. But validation will not be

made until the following Release 6.1.0)) CADISON: Rel. 6.0.3 Versant DB: 6.0.5.3. License query: Using “softkey” for workstation or license manager on Windows 2000, XP or

Windows 2003 server MS Office: MS Office 2000 / XP Remarks: The CADISON Version 6.0.3 can be operated with the AutoCAD versions 2000i, 2002, 2004 and ADT2004. But we recommend using CADISON 6.0.3 only in a homogeneous environment. Mixed operation with AutoCAD 2000i, 2002, 2004 or ADT2004 is not recommended. The hotfixes provided by Microsoft for the various operating systems can sometimes interfere with CADISON use. Please contact our hotline before you install a hotfix.

2.2 Updating Existing Installations Category: Administration The update module is intended for updating CADISON Release 5.5 or 5.6 to Release 6.0.x. An update from CADISON Release 6.0, 6.0.1 or 6.0.2 to Release 6.0.3 has not been implemented yet.

If several CADISON domains are available, they are offered for selection during installation. One domain can be selected. The configurations are taken over for this domain. The additional domains must be created by hand – in the usual way – in CADISON 6.0.3. Please also observe the remarks in Chapter 1.

2.3 Installation Category: Administration Start the setup routine from the CD, and follow the instructions provided by the setup program. The setup for CADISON Release 6.0.3 corresponds to that of Release 6.0.x. In the following, the most important steps and our recommendations for the installation of CADISON Release 6.0.3 are listed.

2.3.1 Setup type There are three types of installation planned.

• User-defined (recommended installation type) • Workstation (in preparation; this option is fully supported only from Release 6.1.0 onward) • Server (in preparation; this option is fully supported only from Release 6.1.0 onward)

2.3.2 Set target paths The three main paths for CADISON installation are requested. The CADISON installation should not take place in the computer’s system partition (drive C:), but in a separate partition area (e.g. drive D:). There must be adequate space (about 250 MB + project data) available in the installation directory.

2.3.3 Selection of the CADISON modules Select the CADISON modules to be installed according to the listing, taking into account the licenses you have purchased.

2.3.4 Selection of the language environment Here you can currently choose between German and English.

Page 9: CADISON Release 6.0 · 8.1.1 ISOGEN symbol key ... 1 Basic Information CADISON Release 6.0.3 is the latest release of the CADISON software. The changes from Release 6.0.2

2.3.5 Licensing processes You can select between two licensing processes (local and network). Our recommendation is to use network licensing. Here, all necessary services are installed, so that you can later convert easily and quickly from a workstation to a network license.

If there will be no access to the NLM server, the corresponding entry (NLMSERVER=server) in the “CDSN60.INI” should be filled with a “#”.

2.3.6 Select the AutoCAD configuration file Please set the AutoCAD configuration file (standard is recommended).

2.3.7 Set program folder Set the desired program folder. “CADISON Release 6” is recommended.

2.3.8 Listing of the chosen settings In the following, you have a listing of the chosen settings.

“Continue” copies the program files onto your system.

Page 11: CADISON Release 6.0 · 8.1.1 ISOGEN symbol key ... 1 Basic Information CADISON Release 6.0.3 is the latest release of the CADISON software. The changes from Release 6.0.2

2.3.9 Selection of the CADISON domain Please specify the CADISON domain. The entries of the “CSDN50.INI” are evaluated in a CADISON update. If several CADISON domains are present, only the local one may be chosen.

The selected CADISON additional modules (ISOGEN, Commercial Extension, ACIS Converter, ...) are then installed via individual setups.

2.3.10 Completion of the installation After the installation is completed, the computer must be restarted.

Page 12: CADISON Release 6.0 · 8.1.1 ISOGEN symbol key ... 1 Basic Information CADISON Release 6.0.3 is the latest release of the CADISON software. The changes from Release 6.0.2

2.3.11 Work after the installation After completing the installation, you should perform the following steps.

• Enter the customer-specific object models – if available • Initialize the system • License the software • Perform individual configuration work • Start all CADISON modules 1x • Log in under a CADISON user account and then change the CADISON domain once (domain

is stored in the user profile, ...) Note: Depending on the computer power, the new installation of CADISON (Chapter 2.3.1 – 2.3.11) takes about 30-60 minutes.

2.4 Multiple installation Category: Administration The parameters specified in the Release Notes 6.0.2 under Chapter 2.4 are unfortunately not correct. The multiple installation described can currently not be performed securely. Therefore, this variant cannot be used. We will rework the multiple installation in CADISON Release 6.1.0.

2.5 Network License Manager (NLM) Category: Administration The following adjustments have been performed in the NLM and, beginning with CADISON Release 6.0.3, must be observed absolutely to ensure complete functioning. The cause for the required changes lies in the increased safety precautions within company networks, which, for example, no longer permit anonymous identifications in the DCOM area.

The computers (server + client) that access the CADISON NLM server must be known and visible within a Windows domain. This applies also for workgroups. If computers from other domains are to access the CADISON NLM server, these Windows domains must have a trust interface with each other. The user names and passwords must be identical on the server and client when workgroups are used. When the CADISON NLM is used (server and client), the hostname length of the computers is limited to 13 characters (A-Z, 0-9, no special characters). Longer hostnames cause the NLM service to not run correctly.

Page 13: CADISON Release 6.0 · 8.1.1 ISOGEN symbol key ... 1 Basic Information CADISON Release 6.0.3 is the latest release of the CADISON software. The changes from Release 6.0.2

2.6 Installation with the ADT2004 The setup of CADISON 6.0.3 does not automatically integrate the necessary additional information (MNUs) for the ADT2004 at installation. The required MNU files are copied into the following directories:

adt_de.mnu to ...\Cadison\App\PHI\ adt_de.mnu to ...\Cadison\App\PHI\German adt_eng.mnu to ...\Cadison\App\PHI\English

In addition, you have to copy the required 3D drawing template into the following directory:

3D_Aufstellungsplan_ADT_2004.dwt to ...\Cadison\TEMPLATE\Deutsch\CAD-Vorlagen 3D_Aufstellungsplan_ADT_2004.tpl to ...\Cadison\TEMPLATE\Deutsch\CAD-Vorlagen

The above-described files are available on the installation CD under the directory ...\tools\ADT2004, and also in the download area of ITandFactory GmbH under www.ITandFactory.com. Notes: In the following areas, adjustments were made to our templates:

• Style definitions (architectural objects, documentation objects, multipurpose objects) • Layer (layer filter in the Layer Manager for ADT objects (construction planning)) • Depiction configuration • Layouts (neutral layout with DWF-6 plotter)

The ADT2004 itself must be started at least once after installation to generate an ACAD profile. Only then should the CADISON installation be carried out.

2.7 Installation with the MPP2004 If you would like to use CADISON with the MPP2004, you can query the current status over our hotline.

2.8 Delivery With the delivery of CADISON Release 6.0.3, you receive:

• A program CD CADISON Rel. 6.0.3 • Release Notes CADISON 6.0.3 • CADISON Call Report Sheets 6.0

3 PDM 3.1 Errors Corrected 3.1.1 Insertion of multiple objects from the Object Manager If more than two objects were selected in the Object Manager and then the “Insertion with data processing”function used, CADISON got stuck and had to be ended with the Task Manager. Now, the chosen objects are transferred properly by the Object Manager and can be inserted.

3.1.2 Object Manager object icons In Object Manager, there was a memory problem with the object symbols (icons). If the Object icon bar was scrolled through several times from left to right and back, the Windows resources memory was unnecessarily burdened. After the resources memory was completely used up, the messages “Invalid pen” and “Invalid brush” appeared and the Windows screen display was destroyed. Sometimes the system had to be rebooted. Now the resources memory is no longer burdened unnecessarily so the error messages no longer appear. Further, for objects for which no icon was stored, an incorrect symbol from another object was sometimes displayed. Now the corresponding button for such objects is suppressed.

3.1.3 Insertion of a template object. The error message “Directory already exists” appeared during insertion of a document group template object into the tree. The reason for this was that the document group directory was previously not automatically deleted. This error has now been corrected, so insertion is possible.

3.1.4 Function “Change attribute definition...” in the Edit object dialog If you click with the right mouse button on the table in the Edit object dialog, a menu appears that offers the function “Change attribute definition...”. If this function is chosen, the definition of the property that was clicked on with the right mouse button can be changed. But if the table in the Edit object dialog was sorted and then this function used, the wrong property was used for editing. Sorting of the table was not used at this position. This error has now been fixed. Beginning with this release, the correct property is used for editing.

3.1.5 Error in the Edit object dialog When the Edit object dialog was expanded in width and then another tab was selected, the column widths of the table were not updated correctly. The column widths of the available table width were adjusted internally, but the table view was not updated, so the table columns were displayed too narrowly. That had the effect of making it difficult to change values in the table, since the edit fields were not available in the visible “Value” column, but were moved to the right. It was not possible to edit the data when clicking with the mouse to the right of the “Value” column. Beginning with this release, the table is correctly updated and oriented on the available space when tabs are switched.

3.1.6 Error in the NT-Security User Management In CADISON Release 6.0.2, NT-Security no longer worked, and the login came anyway. This error has now been corrected, and no login comes with this setting anymore.

Page 15: CADISON Release 6.0 · 8.1.1 ISOGEN symbol key ... 1 Basic Information CADISON Release 6.0.3 is the latest release of the CADISON software. The changes from Release 6.0.2

3.1.7 Error in the CADISON Tree dialog When users switched in the Tree dialog to the table view or the combined Tree and table view, it sometimes happened that the table was set too large, and so it stretched beyond the dialog boundaries. As a result, users could no longer access the dialog buttons on the right and lower sides of the dialog. This error has now been fixed.

3.2 New Developments 3.2.1 Edit object dialog The dialog now has a “Maximize” button, with which the dialog can be maximized.

3.2.2 Enhancement in VSTREAM.EXE Databases are exported and imported using the program vstream. We have made an adjustment within vstream to expand the stack size from 4 MB to 16 MB. This makes a better export/import of larger databases possible.

There is also a vstream32 in which the stack size was defined at 32 MB. This program must be called up manually via a command box. Alternatively, it can be copied from the directory ..\cadison\system\tools\ with the name vstream32.exe into the directory ..\cadison\system\versant\vds605\bin with the name vstream.exe. Please back up the original vstream.exe beforehand.

4 Engineer 4.1 Errors Corrected No corrections have been made.

4.2 New Developments 4.2.1 Import database / Export database In the “Import database” and “Export database” functions, the internal work steps are logged simultaneously. When the functions are called up via the CADISON Tree window, a right mouse click in the lower Info line in the Tree dialog above the pop-up menu makes the log available for viewing. With the log, you can, for example, after exporting check whether the export process ran without error. If you have an empty project database after importing (no project visible in the Tree), you should also look at the log to check whether the import process ran without error. This enhancement applies to both the Engineer and the Designer.

4.2.2 Copying of a project (for use in another project database) As a reminder: In CADISON, objects are created either as structural objects or as components. For example, a fitting under a logical plant is created as a structural object. An example of a component is a motor under a pump. In the further description, this assignment is described as a link. From a start object, CADISON can now set both subordinate and superordinate objects using these links. This can be seen best in the structural view of the Tree in the Edit dialog object. Here you can see components as subordinate objects, and superordinate objects can also be depicted. Illustration: component view

Illustration: Copy objects working copy

Options: Copy subordinate objects With this option, all subordinate objects of the chosen start object are copied as well. This applies both to objects with a structural and a component connection. Note: If this option is not selected, components will, of course, also be copied. Reset object revisions A subordinate object revision (VCS-OREV), if it exists, is not copied. Further, in all objects the attributes “REVISION” and revision comments are reset. Reset document revisions A subordinate document revision (VCS-REVI), if it exists, is not copied. Reset preparer/date For objects that have a graphic, it sets the preparer and date as follows:

If this option is activated, the name of the last user is entered for the “Last processor”, and “Last change date” contains the current date. Otherwise, these two fields contain the contents of the original object. Note: The fields “Preparer” and “Date prepared” in CADISON always contain the current user and the current date.

Make objects visible to all users When objects are copied, any view limitation that may exist is reversed for each object. As a result, there are no more hidden objects.

Copy across projects Illustration: Copy across projects

Copy across projects works through a clipboard in the article or system database (see also Chap. 1.1.1). With Insert across projects, all objects are then taken from this clipboard and inserted. Each user has his or her own clipboard. You can copy from the tree and from the table. From the selected object, the search is made for both superordinate objects and subordinate objects. Depending on the object model and the object itself, it makes sense to copy these objects also so they will be available. It is possible to insert across projects into each project, also in other projects.

Illustration with options before CADISON 6.0.3

Note: In the forefront here is not the complete, automatic discovery of all objects, but, in contrast to “Copy objects working copy”, the freedom of users to themselves determine what is to be copied. Here, the system supports users with some options:

• Options for selecting objects • Change of attributes of all objects for the upcoming insertion

Page 21: CADISON Release 6.0 · 8.1.1 ISOGEN symbol key ... 1 Basic Information CADISON Release 6.0.3 is the latest release of the CADISON software. The changes from Release 6.0.2

New in CADISON 6.0.3.

Options: Copy subordinate objects This option causes all subordinate objects 1 level below the previously chosen start object to be available in a table for selection and the marked ones to be copied as well. This applies both to objects with a structural and a component connection. Then all subordinate objects (structural objects and components) of these marked objects are also copied. Note: If this option is not selected, components will, of course, also be copied. Copy superordinate objects With this option, all superordinate objects of the chosen start object are copied as well. This applies to objects that have a structural connection. You can copy only directly superordinate objects immediately without table selection. Reset counter During insertion, counters are recalculated and start with the count corresponding to the formula. Usually, the counter is stored in the project (object-model-dependent) and no longer corresponds to the original value.

Remark on User Management: Use of the new options starting with CADISON 6.0.3 is not restricted by User Management rights. Copying parts of an existing project into a new project Here, we recommend the cross-project copying, described in detail above, into an empty project. There a search can be made for objects and links that are not necessary in the actual target project. Only a trained user can recognize and decide on the position in which objects are no longer necessary. Context-dependent decision situations must be resolved by the user. Example: Copy plant component in the R+I diagram

The copy dialog appears and, with its options, applies only for objects that are not drawn and are additionally selected in the table, such as superordinate pipe or subordinate objects, such as extra added documents.

Copying through the Object Manager for smaller assemblies Here, the new options are also available and reset everything accordingly before the objects are copied into the template database.

5 MATPIPE 5.1 Errors Corrected 5.1.1 Variant calculation with simple precision Rounding errors are possible with calculation of variants with simple precision, which in MATPIPE resulted in the error message “MODELER EXCEPTION – 1016”. Nothing was displayed in the variant viewer. This error has now been fixed. 5.1.2 After deletion of an object table, the object type is changed In the Edit object tables dialog, the object type setting was always reset to the first entry in the list when object tables were added or removed.

=> MATPIPE->Catalog->Object tables->Delete This error has now been corrected. 5.1.3 Exchanged function “Data from” and “Data to” in the English version The functions “Data from” and “Data to” were exchanged in the context menu of the objects. “Data to” carried out the “Data from” function, and vice versa. This error has now been fixed.

=> MATPIPE->Tree->Context menu on object->Data from / Data to 5.1.4 Storage of a symbol doesn’t work Storage of a symbol in the attributes catalog doesn’t work. While the symbol is copied into the \IMAGES\ directory, it is not displayed. This error has now been fixed.

5.2 New Developments 5.2.1 New function to delete empty object tables A new “Delete empty” switch has been integrated into the Object tables dialog. All object tables that are empty, that is, no longer used by any objects, are displayed. Users now have the possibility to delete specific object tables by marking them and confirming with “OK”.

=> MATPIPE->Catalog->Object tables-> Delete empty

6 2D-PIPE 6.1 Errors Corrected 6.1.1 Revision date was set incorrectly During revision of a drawing in 2D-PIPE, sometimes 1.1.1970 was specified as the revision date. This error is now corrected, so the current date always appears.

6.1.2 Attribute exchange function The attribute exchange function based on the .AEX files no longer worked with some object types, such as meters. This error has been fixed, so the objects are now properly captioned again. To correct incorrectly generated attributes, the corresponding drawings must be loaded in the Designer. Then the captioning of all objects can be updated with the function from the menu “CADISON->General captioning functions->Set captioning style ...”. Then select the correct captioning style in the dialog and confirm with “OK”. Confirm the question that then appears, “Should the selected captioning style be applied to all objects?”, with “Yes” so all captions will be updated. Note: CAPITAL LETTERS must be used to label *.aex, (that is: ABC.aex = OK.....abc.aex = ERROR).

6.1.3 Revision of drawings with XREFs When drawings containing XREFs are revised, the XREFs were no longer attached in the revised drawings. This error is fixed.

6.1.4 “Open file” Deletion of drawings prevented It was previously possible in all table dialogs, such as “Open file”, to carry out the “Delete object” order with the right mouse button and thus delete the object unintentionally. This command has been generally deactivated with Release 6.0.3. to prevent mistaken operations.

6.1.5 Media selection in the Pipe dialog The Pipe dialog had an incorrect action during selection of a medium. Only when a medium was selected with a mouse click was the pipe class list updated. Now the pipe class list is also updated when the medium is selected via the keyboard.

6.1.6 Change nominal widths function The “Change nominal widths” function sometimes resulted in a system error message, and then the message that no connection existed between the beginning and ending element. This error has now been fixed.

6.1.7 Block caption for object Starting with CADISON 6.0.1, the list selection in the “Block caption for object” function was defective. It was not the object selected in the Tree that was captioned, but the object selected in the table. This was mostly then a sub-object of the object selected in the Tree. Beginning with this version, the object selected in the Tree is captioned again.

6.1.8 Crash when changing drawings In the CADISON Designer functions “Update batch” and “Batch plotting”, the AutoCAD error message “Error handler re-entered” could appear when drawings were loaded that contained multipoly lines. If the drawings were changed with CTRL+arrow_up / CTRL+arrow_down, the AutoCAD error message “Unhandled Exception” could appear. In both cases, AutoCAD was closed after the error messages. This version fixes this error so that now drawings with multipoly lines can be changed without danger.

6.1.9 Copy dialog while revising drawings When revising drawings containing XREFs, the CADISON Copy dialog could appear. Beginning with this release, the dialog no longer appears.

6.2 New Developments 6.2.1 Automatic connection of line lengths If two line lengths are automatically connected (e.g. with deletion or displacement of reductions, etc.) and both have different nominal widths, a remark is now output in the AutoCAD command line. The different nominal widths are displayed as well as the nominal width to which the combined object is set.

6.2.2 New object “5-way fitting” The new object “5-way fitting” (object types PHI-PVL5) will be implemented in one of the next CADISON releases. In the current release, this object class is already known in 2D-PIPE.

8 ISOGEN 8.1 Errors Corrected 8.1.1 ISOGEN symbol key With flanges, the ISOGEN symbol key was set by default to “FLRG”. This key generated a defective presentation in ISOGEN. For that reason, the key “FBSE” was introduced in the object model with flanges. With it, the depiction is correct again. This key is now set as standard and appears in the selection list.

This change appears in existing systems only when the default database is newly initialized and when the respective project database is updated.

8.2 Enhancements No enhancements have been implemented.

8.3 Remark on installation 8.3.1 ISOGEN Temp directory In “cdsn60.ini”, the temporary directory is set to C:\TEMP\for the definition of ISOGEN isometries. Beginning with Windows 2000, the temporary directory is preset as standard for every user in his or her profile. Please ensure that C:\TEMP\exists and all CADISON users have write access to this directory. Alternatively, the entry in “cdsn60.ini” can also be adapted. If one of these two options is not carried out, no work with ISOGEN is possible.

9 Object model changes 9.1 General 9.1.1 Object model enhancement Category: Administration The property definition formulas were enhanced. There are now three formulas with which parts of character chains can be extracted. The new formula elements are:

STRLEFT(<propname>,<length>) Receives the value of <propname> as a chain of characters and from it returns the left “length” characters. STRMID(<propname>,<start>) STRMID(<propname>,<start>,<length>) Accepts the value of <propname> as a character chain. The first formula returns all characters beginning with the “start” character, and the second formula returns “length” characters altogether, beginning with the “start” character. STRRIGHT(<propname>,<length>) Receives the value of <propname> as a chain of characters and from it returns the right “length” characters. In addition, the results of these formulas can be combined with the plus sign (+), such as: STRLEFT(P_name, 4)+’ ‘+STRMID(P_name,5,2)+STRRIGHT(P_name,2).

10 Tips and Tricks 10.1 3D template objects combined with the function “Exchange graphic

variant” Procedure: Various containers were defined as variants (connection widths differ) in 3D and stored in the Object Manager. If work is now performed with “Exchange graphic variant” (insertion and connection points identical; nominal widths changed), the replacing graphic is reduced in size by 1/1000. The more frequently this step is performed, the smaller the graphic. Notes:

If a container is defined as an assembly/macro, after insertion it “falls apart” into its individual components. A comprehensive selection of a container defined with the tools of “3D Container Construction” is not possible. A comprehensive suggestion list appears if several components for exchange of the graphic presentation are selected. If any desired volume is used in the container definition or the container components are transferred into ACAD basic elements using “origin”, the graphic variant can be exchanged. A clear reduction of exactly 1/1000 occurs.

The “Exchange graphic variant” function is designed for the exchange of blocks. Blocks, both 2D and 3D, distinguish themselves in that they are each ONE object (similar to a variant construction in MATPIPE). But as the containers used are not blocks, but a combination of different components, and these components are dynamic (e.g. the interaction between a connection and the connecting pipe), “Exchange graphic variant” does NOT work. As alternatives remain:

1. Definition of the templates as blocks (impinge CADISON objects with “origin” and then set the connection/insertion points) and store them in the Object Manager. 2. Definition of a 3D variant in MATPIPE using configuration objects, in which the most frequently used combinations can be stored as configuration objects.

10.2 A newly entered clearance for CADISON does not clear modules Problem: A newly entered clearance for CADISON NLM does not clear the modules. Solution: If the coding was transferred into your system by “drag and drop” from the Excel table that you received from us, the line break is also in the coding. And if the entire line containing the code is marked in Excel, the line break is entered as a special character in the License Manager. This results in the NLM acting incorrectly. Please note that you can only copy the cell’s contents in this procedure. The safest method is to mark the desired cell and copy the contents of the editing line.

10.3 Information within the system database The CADISON system database (sys.db) contains much important and relevant information for the CADISON application. In the following, we explain some of the areas. User administration

The CADISON User Management data (username, group, roles, ....) are stored in the system database. The User Management information can be secured by exporting it over the PDM. You should definitely do this at regular intervals and after changes in your CADISON User Management. Only then is it possible to import the User Management later. If the system database should be defective, you can quickly and easily reintegrate your User Management into your system. The standard User Management planned by ITandFactory is documented in the CADISON 6.0.2. release notes. This can always be reimported.

Clipboard

Each user has his or her own clipboard in the standard setting. For simple copying and cross-project copying, the selected elements are stored in the clipboard temporarily, in order to be available as a copy template at insertion. The clipboard itself is stored in the system database. Since the contents of the clipboards change often, it makes no sense to back them up if the system database needs to be reinitialized. And so here no backup is required. To clean the system database of the clipboard entries, the ITFTools offer the option to delete the clipboard. Beginning with CADISON Release 6.0.3, the clipboard is assigned by default to the article database (see Chapter 1.1.1).

Hierarchical structure for domain management in the PDM or PDM window

This structure cannot be exported. It is created from the beginning and can be arranged by the users with the help of database groups.

In general, the system database must also be backed up regularly to make a general restoration possible. The information in the copies is updated to the current status from the project level downwards (including project).

10.4 Column width in the table view less than 15 In the table view, the column width can be defined in pixels per field via the corresponding configuration parameters. Besides the standard values (60), very small values (<15) can also be specified. If these small values are specified, the filter buttons lie on top of each other in the depiction and cannot be clearly allocated. We recommend, therefore, not to go below the value 15 for column width.

Example: Table view configuration with column width of 1 pixel

The filter button belongs to the column with pixel width of 1 and not, as may be incorrectly assumed, to the “Code letter” column.

10.5 Size of the NavisWorks export file Starting with a certain size of the export file, NavisWorks export experiences difficulties and crashes. If this problem occurs, do the following: Perform the NW export with two smaller sections of your plant individually. You can then recombine the two *.nwd files in NavisWorks and look at and evaluate the complete model.
