CD Cover Analysis
Kyanna Sutton
My first thoughts when I look at this album cover, is it’s a quite dark band, as of the dark sky etc; also though it
is contrasted by doves which are peaceful, although you can see the doves have transformed from black
crows which represent darkness and death. The woman who is sat in the middle is the main vocal of the band, she shows the power and centre of attention by being on a throne. This picture is quite egotistical as she is
showing that she feels more important than the other band
members as she is the only one in the picture.
Within TemptationThe Heart of Everything
When I look at this album cover, I think that the skulls
associate with the bands genre of music, which some people
can associate with death, unhappiness and evil. The
copied skull could represent that the band do covers/copies of other bands music etc; none
of the band members are involved in the cover, which
could be as the band isn’t very well known as it is their 1st
album, but it has two different album covers.
Sea of TreacheryAt Daggers Drawn
When I look at this album cover, at first it comes across as very eye catching, as the use of colours blending within each other and
different tones, it stands out a lot more against the black background. The album name is invincible which can actually be represented by this
image as the two figures are binding together with what looks like some sort of energy. Also as it as a male
and a female figure, you can see the chemistry being sparked between
them as there is one bolt of it going from his lip to her neck.
MuseInvincible
My first thoughts when I look at this album cover, is it’s a quite dark
band, as of the dark colour use. This is different to the band ‘Within
Temptation’ (a few slides before), although they are both very similar. I noticed as they both involve use of dark imagery and also white wings, representing the peace once again, but also the expression on her face has innocence and youth in it.. This picture is again quite egotistical as she also is showing that she feels
more important than the other band members as she is the only one in
the picture.
EvanescenceDemos 2001-2002
On this album cover, my first thoughts are that it has a very ‘painting’ look to it, it
seems to have a pastel or crayon textured look to it. I can see what looks to
be a person hanging my their feet wrapped up, and what looks to be old
times traffic. Studying the picture closely I can see surreal images and shapes
coming out of it. I think the image is quite serious, not taking a joke as it may be pointing out what has been happened around the world. The designers of the CD used photoshop the create all the
different layers and effects on the whole image.
My Chemical RomanceI brought you my bullets, you brought me your love
Sonic SyndicateAt Only Inhuman
This album cover, I find rather strange as it is a mechanical fly but
has two totally different wings, it looks broken and has what looks like
blood splattered on it. There is a shape of a city in the background,
but under the mechanic bug seems to either be a shadow or it could be
something which has been shattered or crushed. The picture as a whole I find quite frightening as everything
is in black and white with distinct red on the title and ‘’blood’’. Also the
scary look of it could represent what their music is like as they are not a
subtle band.
Sea of TreacheryAt Daggers Drawn
When I look at this album cover, none of the band members are involved in the
cover, the cover is the first of two different album covers for the same
album for this band. The picture is a see with a darkened sky in the background,
which I find quite ironical as the setting is dark and treachery is a dark thing to do
and also it is obvious with the join between the word sea and the picture of a sea. I think this could have been edited in photo shop at there are areas in which are lightened and darkened and seem to
have a mixture of contrast.
