Marking the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation
An occasion to celebrate - 500 years of being made new in
God's grace! 8:00 and 10:30 Festival Worship will invite us to
wonder how we are still being made new, with special
instrumental music and our CLC ensembles. At 9:20 a special
Reformation Fair will take over our Formation Hour and church
campus with activities to learn and explore for all ages - and
food! Complete the Life of Luther scavenger hunt and get a
selfie with the reformer! Stop by the "Musical Indulgences
Hymn Sing" and buy a hymn, or visit the Translation Station and
recall Luther's work to put scripture in the language of the
people. Play some games, get creative with window art, and
more!

Mark Your Calendar - Communion Conversations
In Holy Communion, we are given the treasure of Jesus' presence with us in a tangible way – his body and blood given for us for the forgiveness of sin. We gather at Christ’s invitation and in this ‘family meal’ he unites us with one another, with the church through all time and space. We are given a “foretaste” of the feast to come in the fullness of God’s kingdom, and we become what we receive – the body of Christ, given for the life of the world. At CLC, we treasure this gift, and the promises of God, recognizing that they are something too precious NOT to use. This is a gift we wouldn’t want to miss, a gift that belongs to all of God’s people. So we celebrate it weekly, and we welcome children to the table as they are ready to join us. As families with younger children find that their children are hungry to receive Christ’s presence, we have Communion preparation for the whole family. We gather and talk about what this gift means, about Jesus' presence in his body and blood, about the forgiveness of sin that comes through his cross. We bake bread together and marvel at how God takes what is ordinary – bread from our hands, wine from nearby vineyards, and by his presence transforms it into something much more. A Communion Conversations event for families with Elementary-age and younger children will take place in the Spring. We encourage families to continue to talk about Holy Communion, since our understanding shifts as we grow. And in preaching, both pastors try to continue to lift up the gift and mystery of the sacrament as we all continue to grow in faith. At 5th grade, we continue our learning, gathering all the students and parents talk together about the sacrament, and welcome to the table those who have not joined us at a younger age. Communion Conversations for 5th graders and families will be Wednesdays, November 1 and 8, at 7:00 pm.
New to this congregation? Interested in knowing more about the Lutheran
tradition? Those interested in joining the congregation, as well as all who would
like to learn more about our faith and practices, are encouraged to join in
Lutheranism 101 with Pastor Tim on Sunday mornings November 5 through December 3 at 9:20. This time
will give us the opportunity to get to know one another better, to explore the big questions of faith, and
learn about what it means to be a part of a faith community. For more information or to let us know to
expect you, please email Pastor Erica: [email protected]

Nametags are a very helpful tool for getting to know people!
Your nametag is now in the Gathering area so that it is easier for you to grab
on the way in when you arrive and return on your way out of CLC.
Wearing your nametag is a small but
mighty thing we can all do FOR OTHERS which we all benefit
from. THANK YOU!
