We celebrate in our liturgy, this August 15, the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother Virgin Mary. As we reflect on this solemnity, questions and elements of our faith emerge.

We do not know for sure what it is to die, what is an everlasting life. What the future

resurrection will be like. Our faith is fueled by the admiration we profess for the mother of

Jesus, "Blessed among women," as St Elizabeth pointed out when Mary came to visit

her. Pope Pius XII, on November 1, 1950, defined the Assumption: “Thus the august

Mother of God was preserved from the cor-ruption of the sepulcher and, after death, as before by her Son, she was raised in soul and body to glory, from heaven, where she shines

as Queen at the right hand of her Son. In many churches there is talk of the Dormi-tion of the Virgin or that the mother of God

was raised to heaven in body and soul, giving her the name of Asunta. Her death was just a

passing from this mortal life to the eternal one, without that eclipse of dying that an-guishes us all. It is good to reflect then that

the Assumption of the Virgin is a guarantee of our future assumption to heaven. The most important thing about this feast is to guide

our own life, in such a way that our route coin-cides with the example of the Virgin Mary. So also, by logic, the logic of God's love, we will

one day enjoy eternal glory, in the company of Christ and his holy Mother.

EL PÁRROCO Y LA PALABRA DE DIOS «Entonces Isabel se llenó de la Espíritu Santo y dijo a voz en grito: Bendita tú entre las mujeres y bendito el fruto de tu vientre». San Lucas, cap. 1. Celebramos en nuestra liturgia, este 15 de agosto, la fiesta de la Asunción de la Vir-gen. Al reflexionar sobre esta solemnidad afloran interrogantes y elementos de nuestra fe. No sabemos a ciencia cierta qué es mo-rir, qué es vida perdurable. Cómo será la futura resurrección. Nuestra fe se ve impul-sada por la admiración que profesamos a la Madre de Jesús, «Bendita entre las muje-res», como la señaló santa Isabel, cuando María fue a visitarla. El papa Pío XII, el 1º de noviembre de 1950 definió la Asunción: «Así la augusta Madre de Dios, fue preservada de la corrupción del sepulcro y vencida la muerte, como antes por su Hijo, fue elevada en alma y cuerpo a la gloria del cielo, donde resplandece como Reina a la diestra de su Hijo, Rey inmortal de los siglos». En muchas iglesias se habla de la Dormi-ción de la Virgen o que la Madre de Dios fue subida a los cielos en cuerpo y alma, dándole el nombre de Asunta. Su muerte fue apenas un pasar de esta vida mortal a la eterna, sin ese eclipse del morir que a todos nos angustia. Es bueno reflexionar entonces que la Asun-ción de la Virgen es garantía de nuestra fu-tura asunción a los cielos. Lo más importan-te de esta fiesta es orientar nuestra propia vida, de tal manera que nuestra ruta coinci-da con el ejemplo de la Virgen María. Así también por lógica, la lógica del amor de Dios, gozaremos un día la gloria eterna, en compañía de Cristo y de su santa Madre.

Oracion a la Virgen del Magnificant Virgen del Magnificant, tu que llevastes a tu prima Isabel el

Verbo, que el Espiritu Santo habia engendrado en ti, enseñanos

a llevar esa Palabra a los hombre que no la conocen y viven en la

desesperacion. Ayúdanos a comprender y a vivir el mensaje

evangélico que resumiste y con fuerza proclamastes en el cantico

del Magnigicat. Queremos seguir tu ejemplo de primera

misionera llevando a Cristo en nuestro corazón y proclamando
