Cleaning the duct• cleaning at regular interval is important, depending on the use and

function of the roomCleaning the grate• a dirty grate obstructs the flow of air to the ventilator. Clean the grate

at regular intervals, depending on the usage and function of the room. • the grate must not be dismantled for maintenance and can simply be

cleaned with a vacuum cleaner.

What is sound power, sound pressure

Sound power is noise production of the device itself (sound source). The sound power is thus considered as a fixed value independent of the installation situation.

Sound pressure is the perceptible sound. This depends on the in-stallation situation and on several factors:• the location of the device• the environmental condition• the distance to the measured sound source• the reflection of the sound (depending on the size and the height

of the room and the materials used)Note: The sound power is always higher than the perceived sound pressure.

Reverberation time: Reverberation time is the time - in seconds - which is neces-sary to lower the sound pressure level of 60 dB after the sound source is switched off. This shows that the reverberation time in a large room will be larger than in a small room. Particularly the acoustics and decoration of the room determines the reverbera-tion time.

Acoustic isolation

Insulation against airborne noiseSound is reflected by hard materials. Soft, porous substances are best suited to absorbing airborne sound. Contact sound insulationSound travels very easily in hard materials. Contact sound insulation will largely depend on this: A. Quality of the placementContact pointsMake sure that sound- and/or mechanical vibrations cannot be transfer-red between different elements, e.g. between the built-in heaters and a metal carrier, through pipes, along air ducts etc. Hollow acoustic spaces.Where air can travel, so can sound:Isolate the built-in heaters in hollow acoustic spaces. Avoid cavities be-tween insulation and pipes. These form small resonance boxes. Avoid cavities along air ducts (the acoustic effect cannot be predicted for this).
