The month-long celebration of NSM had been formal- ly opened with a Stakeholders Forum on 08 October 2019 at SACOP Ephatha, Brgy. Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The said activity was participat- ed in by the different organizations and institutions that are utilizing the Philippine Standard Classification System which included: Philippine Standard Classification for Education (PSCED), Stakeholders Forum and Appreciation Seminar on Philippine Standard Classification System Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC), and Philippine Standard Occupational Classification (PSOC). On 09 October 2019, the discussion on the Philippine Standard Classification was continued with an appreciation seminar that was attended by selected provincial and regional staff and representatives from the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) III. The participants were given the chance to apply their learning’s through hands-on coding exercises.

    PSA Celebrates 30th NSM

    The celebration of the 30th National Statistics Month (NSM) in Central Luzon had

    embarked another milestone for the whole region as it continues to conduct worthwhile

    Let’s Talk About

    Launching of 1st NSM StatLympics, On-the-Spot Poster Making, and Exhibit

    With the initiative and support of the Central

    Luzon - Regional Statistics Committee (CL-RSC), the

    First NSM Statlympics, Poster Making Contest, and

    Exhibit was successfully launched on 16 October 2019

    at NEDA III Covered Court, DMGC, Brgy. Maimpis, City

    of San Fernando, Pampanga. The three-in-one activity

    was participated in by seven schools coming from

    Pampanga who competed in the StatLympics and

    Poster Making Contest. The StatLympics was

    derived from the famous reality TV show Amazing

    Race wherein seven government agencies around

    DMGC were identified as official stations.

    Simultaneously, poster making contest was also done

    while the exhibitors from various government

    agencies displayed their products such as IEC

    materials and performed some gimmicks during the

    event.

    Aside from promoting the vital role of

    statistics among high school students, the activity

    aimed to familiarize the students with the different

    government offices that can be found within the

    Diosdado Macapagal government Center (DMGC).

    The said event was able to reach a larger scale of

    audience through the use of Facebook Live, a

    real-time video feature of the said social network.

    Let’s Talk About

    Fourth NSM Interactive Statistical Challenge

    It has been a tradition for Central Luzon to officially

    close the celebration of NSM in the region through an

    interactive challenge. The Fourth NSM Interactive

    Statistical Challenge was conducted on 29 October

    2019 at SACOP Ephatha, Brgy. Maimpis, City of San

    Fernando, Pampanga. The annual interactive

    challenge primarily seeks to promote the use of

    statistics, disseminate the mandate of PSA, and to

    foster camaraderie among the government

    employees through fun-filled relays and mind games.

    It was attended and participated in by selected PSA

    staff and representatives coming from 21 different

    government agencies around the region. The said

    activity remained to be a yearly anticipated event in

    Central Luzon since its birth in 2016.

    CL-RSC Convenes for Q4 2019

    As the working was about to end, CL-RSC

    convened for its 2019 fourth quarter meeting on 25

    November 2019 at NEDA III Conference Room, Brgy.

    Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

    The agenda items that were tackled during the

    meeting were the following:

    Approval of 2020 CL-RSC Work Program;

    Report on the Accomplishments of

    Provincial Statistics Committee;

    Updated on the Community-Based

    Monitoring System;

    Presentation on the Population Projection Using

    the Results of 2015 POPCEN;

    Highlights of the Celebration of 30th

    National Statistics Month;

    Updates on the Land and Timber Accounts of

    Central Luzon;

    Presentation of 2019 Q3 Regional

    Economic Situationer; and

    Presentation of PSA Board Resolutions (No. 12, 13,

    14, and 17 series of 2019

    Let’s Talk About

    CL-RCCB Convenes for 2020 CPH

    In line with the forthcoming conduct of the

    2020 Census of Population and Housing from 04 May

    2020 to 02 June 2020, the Central Luzon - Regional

    Convening Coordinating Board assembled on 21

    October 2019 at Pipangangan Capampanga, City of

    San Fernando, Pampanga.

    The half-day meeting primarily aimed to present

    the timetable of activities to be conducted before,

    during, and after the operation of census. Further, it

    also intended to solicit the support of the members

    through commitments such as information campaign

    drive to ensure a full coverage of the census,

    provision of training facilities or storage of forms, and

    other assistance that could be of great help to the

    census taking in the region.

    The convening was attended by the members

    of the board; NEDA as the chair, DILG as Vice Chair

    and PSA as the Executive Officer. Provincial Census

    Coordinating Boards (PCCBs) were also expected to

    convene after the convening of RCCB. Moreover,

    RCCB is set to meet for another meeting before the

    enumeration period of the census officially starts.

    Volume of Civil Registry Documents

    Processed in 2019

    In 2019, Pampanga Serbilis Outlet was able to

    process a total of 988,230 Civil Registry Documents

    (CRDs). Majority (750,322) of the transactions made

    include requisition of birth certificate followed by

    marriage certificate, Certificate of No Marriage

    Record (CENOMAR) and death certificate at 111,173,

    90,241 and 14,938 requests respectively. The outlet

    also received 20,495 endorsements. In 2019, the

    number of processed birth certificates and marriage

    certificates decreased by 222,274 and 22,036

    transactions, respectively. On the other hand, death

    certificate requests increased by 645 transactions

    from 2018 to 2019.

    In securing CRDs, the first and second quarter

    of the year are known as the peak season. As seen on

    figure 1, the number of transactions made from

    January to June was relatively higher than that of July

    to December. For the years 2017, 2018 and 2019, a

    trend was observable given that the highest number

    of transactions was recorded in March 2019 while the

    least number of transactions was in December 2019

    Duay were invited as resource speakers during the

    celebration of 2019 Economic and Financial Literacy

    Week (EFLW) spearheaded by the National Economic

    and Development Authority (NEDA) III every second

    week of the month of November annually. For 2019, it

    was celebrated at President Ramon Magsaysay State

    University (PRMSU) and Bataan Peninsula State

    University (BPSU) on 04-05 November 2019.

    CSS Divino discussed about the overview of the

    environmental accounts of the country and Central

    Luzon. On the other hand, SS II Patricio talked about

    the OpenStat hosted by PSA website particularly the

    step-by-step guide on accessing the page. He also

    made a run-through of the data available in the

    website and how these items can be downloaded in

    different formats. Meanwhile, SA Duay discussed

    about the forthcoming 2020 Census of Population

    and Housing (CPH). The students also participated in

    a video shoot for the information campaign of 2020

    CPH.

    The 2019 celebration of EFLW bore the theme

    “Our Planet’s Health, The Future’s Wealth”. The

    annual activity aimed to reach the students of the

    State Universities and Colleges around the region.
