Anyone is invited to the budget approval meet- ing for Waubonsie Town- ship on March 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. held in the home of Mary Swank. Clearview Home Clearfield Whitney Marsh-Narigon While the weather out- side lately has been a bit of a roller coaster it did not keep us from being busy inside with activi- ties. We like to start the day off in motion with doing exercises and a physical activity. The residents re- ally enjoy kicking off the week with kickball as they can become quite com- petitive with who can kick the farthest. Laughter bel- lows throughout the build- ing when someone acci- dentally takes a soft ball to the face. No worries no one actually gets hurt, maybe just their pride. Balloon bat is probably their favorite which we do on Tuesdays. Who knew hitting a balloon with a pool noodle would be so much fun? On Thursday we had a friendly game of ring toss. Ring toss looks easier said than done as residents try to throw rings on a yellow peg. Words of encourage- ment and praise are shared by all as they attempt this feet. When not in motion we also did activities that challenged the mind like trivia and storytelling. Every Monday afternoon we have Bible Study. It is a great way to start the week. We had bingo on Tues- day afternoon. Bingo is an activity that many have done in their past and enjoy sharing memories from playing bingo to calling bingo. We continue to be blessed that we have Pas- tors that come each week for church on Wednes- days. We ended the week on a sweet note with a Cookie Social. Who doesn’t love an array of cookies? While we didn’t let the weather stop us, we all are looking forward to Spring and a little Vitamin D. If the weather forecast is ac- curate hopefully warmer weather is right around the corner. Come out and visit us. We love visi- tors, the more the merrier! Visitors this week were: Shirley Riley with Russell Riley, Jane Bri- ley and Judy Wedemey- er with Roberta Briley, Kerry Saville with Clara Kilgore. These are just a few of our visitors. If you vis- ited and would like to be included please sign in at the nursing station. Again more the merrier. Clearview Home The March Chatter- box is now available in the south entrance or at the north nurse’s station. Residents are looking for- ward to the spring weather coming soon. The activi- ties lined up for a lot of fun in March. Today (Thursday), Kate Zimmerman will be in for nature program at 9:30 a.m. The general store will be open Friday morning at 9:45 a.m. The March birthday party is being planned for March 8 at 2:00 p.m. with National Honor Society hosting the event. Barbie’s birthday is March 9, so Jamie Miller will be bringing part of her Barbie doll collection at 9:30 a.m. Residents with a birth- day in March are Betty Sharp on the 1, Lavena Wimer on the 5, Ron Ryan on the 6, Norman Holcombe on the 14, Do- ris Todd on the 25, Pearl Grout on the 26, Theola Weeda on the 26 and Jim Neas on the 29. Heads up for Clear- view Home’s annual quilt show. This is set for March 26 at 2 p.m. in the dining room. Mount Ayr and the Ringgold County community are invited to share their quilts with the residents. Quilts can be dropped off at Clearview Home anytime before 2 p.m. with your name and description on it. They will be on display from 2 to 3 p.m. For more in- formation, contact Liz at 464-2240. Monday was Presi- dent’s Day and many of- fices were closed. Resi- dent attended reminisce reading in the morning. Then they played a game of Presidents and First Lady Jingo in the after- noon. Everyone was a winner as we all learned something new. Liz fried up some do- nuts for coffee club on Tuesday. Resident went to see the doctor for rounds and then came to the din- ing area for donuts. Gwen helped Liz serve the do- nuts and coffee. Janie Stark shared her music with the residents during donut time. It was enjoyed by everyone. In the after- noon, bingo winners were Lois Johnson, Anna Lin- key, Wilma Terwilliger, Ermil Hainline, Dale Ar- nold, Donella Johnson, Betty Cole, Donnie John- ston, Luella Wilson, Joy Mitchell and Leroy Shell- man. Wednesday was hand care day. In the after- noon, Erika started church with some singing and Carmene James was on the piano. The minister was unable to preach, so Liz put on her preaching hat and got on her soap box. It was a quick but ef- fective sermon. Liz led resident’s coun- cil in the morning. They were happy with Febru- ary activities and looking forward to March activi- ties. In the afternoon, the residents gathered to play high or low. Some took a gamble and won, oth- ers pushed their luck. The winner was Barb Walter. The residents remained in the dining room and viewed pictures taken dur- ing the donkey ball game hosted by the Mount Ayr band boosters. Friday, Erika had col- oring and coffee with a nice group. Many gath- ered to color, others were there for coffee and some enjoyed reading some ar- ticles from the Creston newspaper. Coffee With The Girls Linda Bell News from Clearfield Sunday, it’s a pretty decent day today, but the weather sounds like the rest of the week we will have some as they call it, “winter mix”. Febru- ary has been pretty hard to come up with anything good to say about it. It is almost over, so we will see what March brings. Monday, well, we had thick heavy fog this morning, but made it into Bible Study. Vickey made it from Clarinda, where she is just getting off work. She said it was worse the closer she got to Clearfield. Tuesday, we got up this morning to ice, freezing rain, and is it ever slip- pery out there. All the schools in the area started out with a two hour delay. And then pretty soon they closed for the day. There is very little traffic past our house all day. Wednesday, a better day, the roads are melted off, but watch where you walk, lots of ice where you walk. Had U.M.W. this morning and a pretty short crowd. Our guest speaker was Deloras Donch, and she is with a group work- ing on a place in Lenox to give a “hand up” to people that need it. Sounds like they are getting dona- tions and help from a lot of people and a building that they are getting ready for their services. We wish them well, there is a great need for this help. Friday, the coffee girls got together, yesterday was freezing rain again, the roads were bad. This morning, you had to watch where you walk, ice everywhere. Jeannie Lar- son made it into work and she said two semis were stuck on a hill out her way, needed a four wheel drive tractor to pull them out. I talked to my sister-in- law, Sherry who is winter- ing in Arizona. She says they’ve had a lot of cool and rainy weather down there. They like to just hang out and sit in the sun. Too cool to do that. Closing this week with; To get things done, it does not ask for ability, but our availability. From the C.T. - L.
