Dear Friends, I admit that I really wanted to put pancakes on the cover of the bulletin today. Pancakes don’t make us happy. But they help a lot. At least that is my experi-ence. I’m thinking about breakfast because this Sun-day we have a very beautiful Gospel passage in which we hear Jesus Himself say “Come, have breakfast.” All my life I have heard people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Some people, many people, say it is their favorite. But as we cele-brate First Holy Communion today (and next Satur-day) we should notice something very true: the most important meal of the week is the Sacred Banquet, the Holy Mass, in which we are nourished by Jesus in Holy Communion. Jesus shares breakfast on the shore with His Apostles. We see His kindness in preparing everything for them but also in allowing them to share some of their great miraculous catch of fish. While we may not think of fish as a normal breakfast food, it should be so that we are very accustomed to sharing special time with Jesus (and with the whole parish family). Holy Communion means we are allowing Jesus to come to us and to give us everything that we need. The moments of conver-sation with Him after receiving Communion are the most important moments of the day, or the week. I congratulate each of our young people receiving their First Communion. And their families! The Real Presence of Jesus with us is better than pancakes! It’s even better than waffles. May the Bread of Heaven help each of you on your lifetime journey of faith! Queridos amigos, Reconozco que tenía muchas ganas de poner panque-ques (pancakes) en la portada del boletín de hoy. Los panqueques no nos dan felicidad, pero nos ayudan bas-tante; al menos esa es mi experiencia. Estoy pensando en el desayuno porque este domingo tenemos un pasaje muy hermoso del Evangelio en el que oímos a Jesús mismo decir "Vengan a desayunar". Toda mi vida he oído a la gente decir que el desayuno es la comida más importante del día. Algunas y muchas personas, dicen que es su comida favorita. Pero hoy (y el próximo sábado), al celebrar la Primera Comunión, de-beríamos notar algo muy cierto: la comida más impor-tante de la semana es el Banquete Sagrado, la Santa Mi-sa, por medio del cual Jesús nos alimenta a través de la Santa Comunión. Jesús comparte el desayuno en la orilla del mar con Sus Apóstoles. Allí podemos ver Su bondad al preparar todo para ellos, pero también al permitirles compartir algunos de sus milagros en su pesca. Si bien es cierto que pense-mos que el pescado no es un alimento normal para el desayuno, debe ser así para que nos acostumbremos a compartir un tiempo especial con Jesús (y con toda la familia parroquial). La Sagrada Comunión significa que estamos permitiendo que Jesús venga a nosotros y nos provea todo lo que necesitamos. Los momentos de con-versación con Él después de recibir la Comunión, son los momentos más importantes del día o de la semana. Quiero felicitar a cada uno de nuestros jóvenes que están recibiendo su Primera Comunión. ¡Y también a sus familias! ¡La presencia real de Jesús con nosotros es mejor que los panqueques! Es incluso mejor que los waffles. Que el Pan del Cielo ayude a cada uno de uste-des en su viaje de fe de por vida! Con mis oraciones, Padre Mateo Zuberbueler Párroco P.S.
