PARKING SERVICES

Welcome back to another semester!

I hope that your courses are going well—this semester tends to

fly by so it’s critical that all students track their assignment due

dates, exam dates, etc. to stay on schedule.

We recognize that dining on campus has become more difficult

with the ongoing renovations to the food court and Barrett Din-

ing Room. The Hangar on the ground floor of KU has some grab-

n-go options, and the ground floor of Chaminade Hall (the

“fishbowl” behind Kennedy Union) is open Monday—Friday from

7 am—2:30 pm. Rudy on the Run, the food truck located on Hu-

manities Plaza, also has options on Monday—Thursday from 7:30

am—7:30 pm, and Fridays from 7:30 am—3:00 pm. The incon-

venience you’re experiencing this semester will soon be replaced

by fantastic dining options in the union starting in August 2017.

Thanks to those students who attended the lunch with Bill Fisch-

er, Vice President for Student Development, back in November.

Students offered great feedback about their experiences as com-

muter students at UD.

I hope that the information in this newsletter is helpful to you—if

you have any ideas or suggestions for future newsletters, please

COMMUTER LOUNGE—KU 118

Commuter Newsletter Page 2

Commuters on Campus is a student organization focused around commuter students. Our

events are held during the week and earlier in the day, when commuters are more likely to

attend. Examples of events we usually hold include hiking, finals week snacks in the Com-

muter Lounge, and a bowling and pizza party in the Hangar. Be sure to add us on OrgSync to

hear about our events and activities.

This semester, Commuters on Campus will be holding a design contest for t-shirts which will

be handed out at the end-of-year luncheon. There can be designs on both the front and back of

the shirt, which will be red with white print. The designs must say UD or University of Day-

ton, as well as Commuters on Campus. Designs are due by Saturday, February 18th, and can

be emailed to [email protected].

If you are interested in joining Commuters on Campus leadership, wish to share event

ideas, or have any questions, please email us at [email protected] or message us on

OrgSync.

NOTE: Students can access OrgSync through Porches on the “Flyer Student Services” tab!

The Commuter Lounge, KU 118, is lo-

cated behind the Torch Lounge on the

first floor of Kennedy Union. The

Lounge has seating, lockers available

for rental, a refrigerator, and a micro-

wave. Commuters can access the

lounge using their UD student ID.

If you do not currently have access to

the lounge but would like to, please

email [email protected]

and include your name and UD ID #.

Please allow 24 hours for access to be

provided.

Student Organizations

There are many student organizations on campus. For a complete list, visit OrgSync. Campus Activities Board - This is a student organization on campus, but it is an amazing organization for commuter stu-dents to know about. CAB hosts events almost every weekend and most of them are free. Student Government Association - There is a Commuter Senator in the Student Government Association. This student acts as a liaison between the commuter student population and the university. This representative can receive input from the students and craft legislation in the Student Senate. Elections are held each year in the early fall, so check out the Student Government webpage to learn more about that. This position would be an excellent learning experience for Political Sci-ence majors or anyone interested in government or public speaking.
