Introduction

Prentec has been supplying high quality Water and Waste Water

Treatment Plant for over 36 years both in South Africa and abroad.

We have over 400 working installations in Africa, accompanied by

site installation and an O&M track record. We also have several

installations abroad including Qatar, The UK, Ireland and Australia.

We have our own fabrication facilities and are thus able to control

quality and delivery through all phases of project development.

Prentec is a key player in Africa. Our activities support many stated

important objectives of the country and continent:

• We innovate, develop, engineer and build high tech

water and waste water technology.

• We beneficiate up to 4000 tons per annum of raw

steel plate and sections in high tech mining and water

treatment machines and equipment. This is a

significant import replacement.

• In doing so we employ 180 top notch people including

engineers, artisans, managers, and plant process

guaranteed performance, backed by a One Million US$ process guarantee. Over 35 years of hands-on

experience under local and international conditions has taught us the value of follow-on contractual actions,

such as testing, training, logistical, and operational support and maintenance making ours a true “Turnkey”

operation. Together with our promise of guaranteed performance, clients have come to know Prentec as the

“partners that deliver on their promises”.

Co-operation Through Consultancy

Prentec’s reputation as consulting engineers is highly regarded across all levels of industry and government,

both locally and abroad. With the current shortage of skilled personnel in the consulting engineering

profession, this is more relevant now than ever. Consulting projects include feasibility studies, front-end

design packages, total design packages, process development, trouble-shooting and process evaluation

studies.

Uncompromising Quality and Performance

Unlike many competing companies, Prentec has no franchise or binding agreements with any proprietary

processes or process equipment manufacturers, which leaves us free to design and utilise the best possible

solutions for each individual project. This tailored approach avoids convenient compromise and inevitably

results in considerable cost savings while guaranteeing maximum process performance.

Add to this our adherence to Prentec's Quality Assurance Manual Document QD-010 based on ISO 9001 which

meets both local and international requirements, and you'll understand why blue chip clients such as Eskom,

Sasol, AECI, SAB, Southern Water UK, Anglo Platinum, BHP Billiton, Batemans and African Products to name

but a few have complete confidence in our ability to consistently deliver the very highest quality.

A Sustainable Future For All

Our commitment to our clients is equalled only by our commitment to the environment and a sustainable

future for all. With the imminent introduction of South Africa’s strict new environmental legislation pertaining

to water treatment and quality, Prentec is well placed to provide our clients with efficient, cost effective

solutions in keeping with the both the latter and spirit of the law.

Modular Plants

Prentec has designed container sized modules for various unit operations. These are not plants fitted into

shipping containers. Each module is custom designed with all mechanical, process, electrical and control

components integrated for full functionality.

There is a dedicated E&I section where MMC and control equipment is housed.. All cabling and wiring is

routed in dedicated wire ways and ducts which are fully integrated into the structure. When the modules are

banked together the adjacent E&I sections join to form a continuous dedicated isolated room which adapts to

the size of the plant.

Within the plant area there is a dedicated service zone which carries all pipe headers etc. Again, when modules

bank together these adjoining zones form an access way.

The modules each have an independent sheeted roof with insulation which overlaps the adjacent module.

Open sides are clad and insulated. The net result is that all equipment and electrical installations are in a large

room with proper access, pipe routes and cable ways. Modules can be added and removed without affecting

the overall installation. More than 85% of a typical plant installation can be recovered and relocated as a

whole or split into smaller units. The illustration above shows several UF and RO modules banked together.

Some of the modules we have developed include:

• Modular Mine Water Reactors, Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis

Modules. These can be economically and rapidly delivered to

handle flows of up to 50Ml/d.

This unique range of modules allows us to respond quickly to

emergency or short term requirements and offer solutions on a

rental basis. Very high performance is possible generating little or

no waste.

• Modular Rapid Gravity or Deep Bed Up flow Filters.

These are economical and can be quickly delivered

and erected. Configurations up to 100Ml/d are

possible. For larger installations a central service skid

is supplied while smaller units have pumps, blowers

and control systems incorporated into an integral

plant / control room.

• Modular Sewage Treatment with MBR, and BNR

features. These units can be configured to handle up

to 500m3/d. They are economical, quick to deliver

and can be relocated relatively easily.

By incorporating anaerobic and anoxic zones full N

and P removal is possible with minimal chemical use.

Integral MBR options produce very high grade

product for reuse.

Exports

During the past fifteen years, PRENTEC has been successfully promoting the export of both consulting

engineering services and plant equipment. We are now active in several countries confirming PRENTEC’s high

manufacturing quality standards and leading technology.

These activities also promote the government’s stated objectives of job creation and increased levels of

beneficiation to continue South Africa’s progress beyond a resource economy.
