Configuring Office 365 on a Mobile Device
Preparation:
Before configuring your new Office 365 account, you must remove your old work email account from your
phone. Follow the steps below to remove your current work email account from your phone. If you do not
have your work email account synced to your phone, feel free to skip the configuration steps for your
device.
This document is split into sections based on the type of mobile device you have. If you have any issues,

Removing and Configuring Office 365 for Android Devices
Removing Your Current Work Account (Android):
1. Go into your phone’s settings and scroll
down to the “Accounts” section. Tap on
“Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync”. If you
do not see this specific option, please
look for “Corporate” or “Exchange”.

3. Tap on “Remove account”
4. Your account should now be removed
from your phone. You can now continue
to the “Configuring your new account”
Section.

Configuring Your New Account
(Android):
1. Go to your phone’s “Settings” and scroll
down to the “Accounts” section. Tap on
“Add account”
2. Tap on “Microsoft Exchange
ActiveSync”. Please note that depending
on which model of phone you have, as
well as the version of Android running on
your phone, you may not have this exact
option. If you do not see this option, look
for “Corporate” or “Exchange”.

(Android):
3. Enter in your email address and
password and tap on “Manual Setup”.
5. After configuring your account, you may
receive a message about a security
update. Accept the changes. Your
account is now configured.
4. Under “Exchange server” add
“m.outlook.com” and make sure the “Use
secure connection (SSL) checkbox is
checked. If you have another option called
“Accept all certificates” make sure that
checkbox is checked as well. Tap “Done”
when finished. Please note the format of your
information in the fields below:

Removing Your Current Work Account (iPhone):
1. Go to your phone’s “Settings” page and
tap on “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”.
2. Tap on your work account. Please note that it
may not say Work or MSMU. The name
depends on how the account was initially
created.

3. Tap on “Delete account”
4. A delete warning will be displayed. Click
on “Delete from My iPhone”. Your
account is now removed.

(iPhone):
1. Go to your phone’s “Settings” page and
tap on “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”.
2. Tap on “Add Account”

3. Tap on “Exchange”
4. Enter your email address, password, and a
description for the account. Tap on “Next”
when done.

5. Select what you would like synced to your phone. This is all personal preference. Tap “Save” when
done. Your account is now configured on your phone.

These screenshots were created using an Android phone with version 4.3 and an iPhone with iOS
version 7.1.
Depending on what version of Android or iOS you have installed on your phone, there may be
some extra steps involved in removing or configuring your Office 365 account.
