Each year, Pioneer redefines greatness in high-definition plasma televisions, and our
sixth-generation models are no exception. They’re brighter, clearer, even thinner.
They create more accurate colors. And they produce the best and smoothest black levels
ever seen in a Pioneer plasma TV, for incredible contrast and detail even in the darkest
movie scenes. Technologically and visually, these models represent a giant leap forward.
Of course, you realize that entertainment in your home will be redefined as well.
The smallest details in movies will suddenly appear to you. Sporting events will leave you
breathless, and video games will become out-of-body experiences.

Extreme Contrast
Deep Encased Cell Structure
Great image quality demands a high level of contrast between dark and light images.
The PDP-5060HD and PDP-4360HD take a giant leap forward in contrast, producing incredible black
level detail without affecting the purity of adjacent lighter areas. The result is simply spellbinding.
To increase contrast, we inserted a newly developed Crystal Emissive Layer between the plasma glass
and the individual light cells. This is a big advance in panel technology, allowing each cell to be
charged and discharged three times faster than before, for greater light emission. Blacks are blacker,
This structure isolates each plasma cell in its own four-walled enclosure, allowing the panel to use
more phosphor in each cell without allowing light to escape into adjacent cells. The result: pure,
concentrated light beams that create brighter images and truer colors.

yet the lighter areas on the screen still maintain their true brightness values. And perhaps for the first
time outside of a movie theater, you can see all of a film’s details, even in the darkest scenes.
Wide viewing angle with consistent contrast
A plasma television uses precise voltages
to momentarily convert gas into plasma
energy, and then uses that energy to
produce visible light from color video
phosphor. The result is an extremely
accurate, ultra fast image with wide
horizontal and vertical viewing angle and
consistent contrast from all angles.

With conventional plasma panels, input signals usually are converted back and forth between
analog and digital before being displayed. This tends to cause problems, l ike noise, that
degrade picture quality. To avoid this, Pioneer developed PureDrive technology, featuring
all-digital video signal processing. Now, the PDP-5060HD and PDP-4360HD come with its new
version – PureDrive II. This latest advance features new custom chipsets that deliver finer
gradation of color and light, along with more detailed reproduction.
Thanks to our Advanced Continuous Emission (ACE) IV technology, Pioneer plasma panels are able to
accurately reproduce an astounding 1,024 "grayscale" steps for each color. The panel instantly
identifies the type of content shown on-screen (fast- vs. slow-motion scenes, dark vs. light scenes) and
dynamically adjusts the distribution of color gradation to the precise value.

Advanced PureCinema with 72 Hz 3:3 Pull-Down
A movie on DVD should be identical to what its director original ly captured on f i lm.
But unfortunately, when they’re transferred to DVD, films often lose something in the process:
their uniquely natural imagery. And that’s why our Advanced PureCinema feature, with
3:3 Pul l -Down at 72 Hz, is
important. Without us ing

Number of Colors The human eye is very sophisticated, able to discern over 256 million shades of color. Our panels
are able to display a range of colors that far exceeds that — well over a billion — for the most
accurate and natural color performance possible.
Reflected light can ruin picture quality. That’s why we invented the First-Surface Pure Color Filter,
a patented layer of film that replaces the exterior glass panel on our plasma TVs. The filter is
optically bound to the interior glass panel covering the plasma cells; because there’s no space in
between the filter and the interior glass, there are no reflections generated between the layers.
This can improve the contrast ratio in brightly lit rooms by as much as 20%.
Besides improved contrast, another benefit of our First-Surface Pure Color Filter is higher color
accuracy. The plasma’s interior light is actually color-balanced as it passes through this filter,
producing color values that are closer to the true NTSC and ATSC color standard than those
of other TVs, even surpassing many CRTs and most other flat TV technology.

To expand your sound options, these models feature three
surround sound processing modes: SRS for dynamic 3-D
surround throughout an expansive listening area; TruBass for
surprisingly big, natural bass sound; and FOCUS, which
enhances the surround effect and shifts the sound field
upward. Our plasma TVs also permit simultaneous activation
of TruBass and SRS.
* SRS, TruBass, and FOCUS are trademarks of SRS Labs. Inc.
The speaker system matches the design and finish of the display panels, while delivering superior
sound. They can be installed in two different ways:
Flush: The speakers are fixed flat against the sides of the display panel.
Air: The speakers are mounted slightly away from the sides of the display panel, delivering a
wider sound field.
* The speaker system "PDP-S38" is a standard configuration for PDP-5060HD, while for PDP-4360HD is "PDP-S37" an optional accessory.
The media receiver comes with a subwoofer output terminal, enabling easy connection to a powered
subwoofer for deeper bass response.
The media receiver provides two inputs for HDMI, which delivers an uncompressed, all-digital interface for both audio and video signals. With a single-cable connection, it allows transmission of a huge amount of high-quality data – such as uncompressed HDTV signals and digital audio. It’s also very simple, providing a straight digital path without performing unnecessary compression and re-compression steps, so the signal remains in a pure, digital state. This lossless process maintains a higher level of image quality than other connection systems. HDMI provides plug and play capability, accommodates all of the current ATSC digital television formats, and supports up to eight channels of audio.

(4) Program Search Functions
Program search is possible by category, such as Movies, Sports, or Children, by keyword(s), or by title in
alphabetical order. A scheduled recording of a program can be made simply by pressing the REC button on
the remote control. These functions are also available for HDTV programs.* TV Guide On Screen Interactive Program Guide provides listings for cable-ready, cable box, and digital cable services as well as
over-the-air broadcast. It does not provide listings for satellite services. Must connect separate recording device (VCR, DVR, or DVD recorder) in order to record programmed listings.
(3) Program Reminders
The plasma panel alerts you when a program is about to start on another channel.
Alerts can be set for one episode, or for each time.
The "auto tune" function automatically changes the channel for the set program.
An on-screen alert also appears when programs selected for auto tuning or recording overlap.
The PDP-5060HD and PDP-4360HD come with dual built-in NTSC (regular analog TV) tuners and a
built-in ATSC (digital TV) tuner. These models can display all three types of ATSC digital broadcasts —
Standard-Definition, Enhanced-Definition, and High-Definition — with a Pioneer technology that
up-converts video signals for the highest-possible picture quality. All signals are up-converted to high
definition and displayed. The ATSC tuner is for off-air DTV reception and also for digital cable.
Also, the units permit connection to D-VHS recorders via an i.LINK (IEEE 1394) terminal for recording
DTV programs and retaining the original picture quality.
(2) Easy Recording Operations
Select a program from the list, press the remote control REC
button and the program will be automatically recorded to your
external recorder. Recording frequency can be set to "once" or
"weekly" (same time each week). The recording can be set to
start or end on time, or up to 120 minutes before or after the
scheduled time. TV Guide On Screen alerts you for overlapping
scheduled recordings. Even if the TV Guide On Screen system is
turned off, an alert is displayed when the recording is about to
start, with the option to cancel.
The media receiver also features a built-in unidirectional digital cable
tuner, which provides easy "plug and play" of basic cable channels
without an external cable box.

• Specifications and design subject to modification without notice.• High-Definition Television (HDTV): HDTV refers to a complete product/system with the following minimum performance attributes • Receiver: Receives
ATSC terrestrial digital transmissions and decodes all ATSC Table 3 video formats • Display Scanning Format: Has active vertical scanning lines of 720 progressive (720p), 1,080 interlaced (1,080i) or higher • Aspect Ratio: Capable of displaying a 16:9 image • Audio: Receives and reproduces, and/or outputs Dolby® Digital audio signal processing. Source: Consumer Electronics Association, August 2000.
• Plasma Display Systems display images consisting of hundreds of thousands of minute pixels (light emitting cells), and there is a possibility of inactive, flashing or continually illuminated pixels.
• Plasma Display Systems emit slight amounts of IR (Infrared Emission) through luminous discharge technology. IR is not harmful to living organisms, but may interfere with the operation of remote controls for other equipment or cause static in equipment using IR (such as cordless headphones or cordless microphones)
• Image retention, also known as burn-in, can occur in all phosphor-based display systems (including CRT television systems—both direct view and projection—as well as plasma display systems). Displaying the same still images for long periods should be avoided as image shadowing or burn-in may occur. Recommended guidelines are as follows:
• Do not display static images for long periods (such as still images, fixed images from PC or TV game equipment, and/or fixed images such as time of day indicator or channel logo display).
• Do not display content in the 4:3 aspect ratio (black or gray bars on left and right side of content) or letter-box content (black bars above and below of content) for extended periods of time, or use either of these viewing modes repeatedly within a short period of time. This Plasma Display System is equipped with multiple wide-screen viewing modes; use one of these screen modes to fill the entire screen with content.
• Displaying dark images after displaying still images for a period of time may cause image retention. In most cases, the image retention can be corrected by displaying bright images for a similar period of time.
If you display still images on your Plasma Display System for long periods of time, image retention may be irreparable.• Plasma Display Systems may have a negative effect on sound or images coming from AM radios, PCs or video-related products. • Plasma Display Systems have interior glass panels; be sure to secure it from damage from impact. • While in use, Plasma Display Systems may generate some functional sounds, for example: fan motor noise, and electrical circuit humming/glass panel
buzzing.• The Plasma Display System Media Receiver uses an on-board cooling fan. If the ambient temperature of the Media Receiver becomes high, the speed
of the cooling fan increases and it may sound louder than normal during the cooling period.• PIONEER, the Pioneer Logo, and PureVision are registered trademarks of Pioneer Corporation.• CableCARD is a trademark of Cable Television Laboratories, Inc.• Dolby and the double-D symbol are registered trademarks of Dolby Laboratories.• HDMI, the HDMI logo, and High-Definition Multimedia Interface are trademarks or registered trademarks of HDMI Licensing LLC.• i.LINK and the i.LINK logo are trademarks of Sony Corporation.• SRS, TruBass, and FOCUS are trademarks of SRS Labs, Inc.• In the United States, TV Guide and other related marks are registered marks of Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. and/or one of its affiliates.
