As we conclude anotherliturgical year, today’s Feast ofChrist the King refocuses ourattention on the Sovereignty of Godand our response to it.

In the Nicene Creed, weprofess that God is omnipotent;“We believe in one God, theFather Almighty.” In fact, theScriptures are filled with referencesto the LORD as the Almighty andAll-powerful One:

For with you great strengthabides always; who can resistthe might of your arm? Indeed,before you the whole universe

is as a grain from a balance, or a drop of morning dewcome down upon the earth. (Wisdom 11:21-22)

When Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the seashoreand beheld the great power that the LORD had shownagainst the Egyptians, they feared the LORD. ThenMoses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: Iwill sing to the LORD, for he is gloriously triumphant;horse and chariot he has cast into the sea. Your righthand, O LORD, magnificent in power, your right hand, OLORD, has shattered the enemy. (Exodus 14:30-31,15:1,6)

O Lord, great are you and glorious, wonderful in powerand unsurpassable. The mountains to their bases, and theseas, are shaken; the rocks, like wax, melt before yourglance (Judith 16:13,15)

If we acknowledge the absolute power of God, therecan only be one response: Obedience. When weunderstand that the LORD’s power is exercised mostwondrously through our crucified and risen Lord, JesusChrist, then one attitude must dominate all others:Thankfulness. If our shouts of “Viva Cristo Rey! QueViva,” are to be more than mere words, we must submitourselves to the kingship of Christ through obedience andpresent each day as a Living Sacrifice of Thanksgiving toGod by the way we live. This is Intentional Discipleship!

Proclaiming Christ as King and Lord leads us toStewardship. Our long-time practice of Stewardship at SanJuan Bautista provides the concrete, practical way wedirect our lives through obedience and demonstrate truethankfulness and generosity to God. A stewardship attitudeacknowledges everything as a blessing from God—Time,Talent, Treasure, Prayer—to be used well and shared,because they are not MINE, but gifts entrusted to me tobuild up God’s kingdom.

Aquel día salvó Yahvé a Israel del poder delos egipcios; e Israel vio a los egipciosmuertos a orillas del mar. Al comprobar losisraelitas la mano poderosa que Yahvé habíadesplegado contra los egipcios, temieron a Yahvé ycreyeron en Yahvé y en Moisés, su siervo. Cantaré a mi Dios un cantar nuevo: “¡Tú eres grande,Señor, eres glorioso, maravilloso, admirable en poder einsuperable!” Pues los montes, desde sus cimientos, seránsacudidos con las aguas; las rocas en tu presencia sefundirán como cera; pero con aquellos que te temen, temuestras tu siempre propicio. (Judith 16:13,15).

Si reconocemos el poder absoluto de Dios, sólo puedehaber una respuesta: Obediencia. Cuando entendemos queel poder del SEÑOR es ejercido extraordinariamente através de Jesucristo nuestro Señor crucificado y resucitado,entonces, una opinión debe dominar todas las demás:Agradecimiento. Si nuestro gr ito “¡Viva Cristo Rey! QueViva!”, este tiene que ser más que palabras, debemossometernos a la majestad de Cristo por medio de laobediencia y presentarle cada día como un SacrificioViviente de Acción de Gracias a Dios por la forma en quevivimos. Esto es Discipulado Verdadero!

Proclamar a Cristo como Rey y Señor nos lleva a lamayordomía. Nuestra larga práctica de la Administraciónen San Juan Bautista proporciona la práctica en la cualdirigimos nuestra vida obedeciendo y demostrando unaverdadera gratitud y generosidad a Dios. La actitud decorresponsabilidad reconoce que todo es una bendición deDios—Tiempo, Talento, Tesoro, Oración—han de ser bienutilizados y compartidos, porque no son MIOS, sino queson regalos que me han confiado para edificar el Reino deDios y servir a nuestro rey.

Esta colecta permite que la iglesiasde la Diócesis de Harrisburg asistan conlas necesidades básicas de alimento, refugio y ropa a nivel locala través de bancos de alimentos, comedores comunitarios yotros proyectos apoyados por la parroquia que ayudan a losnecesitados. Next weekend of, November 30th and December 1st we willhave the special Matthew 25 Collection which allows theChurches in the Diocese of Harrisburg to address the basicneeds of food, shelter and clothing on a local level through foodbanks, soup kitchens and other parish-supported projects thatassist those in need. All of the funds collected benefit localneeds. 75% of the monies collected will be distributed toprograms within the diocese to address the needs of the poorand 25% will be returned to parishes for their use in assistingothers.

Crusader Girls Spring Softball Registration is Now Open!We are assembling teams for 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U for

the Spring 2020 season. All home games are played at St. Leothe Great. As a feeder program for LCHS, we accept girls fromany parish in Lancaster County. In the Crusader program we seek to instill in the girls afoundation of faith and teamwork. Please remember that the most important gift you can giveyour child after the gift of life is the gift of God's love and gracein the Sacrament of Baptism. Please do not wait months or ayear or two to baptize your child. Baptism should be celebratedwithin weeks of your baby's birth. MOTHERS GROUP @ Saint Mary’s Church

St. Mary’s Church, Lancaster, hosts a “Mothers Group” onthe third Thursday of each month from 9:30-11:00 am in St.Mary’s Assumption Hall. All mothers, and soon-to-be mothers,are welcome to attend. Childcare is provided, but non-separating children are always welcome to stay with theirmothers. We also provide light refreshments. Our meetingsstrive to guide and encourage us in our role as Catholic mothers.This year's discussions will be guided by several differentCatholic podcasts for mothers and women in general.
