Technical expertise, market relationships, and business acumen are the keys to designing programs and negotiating effective coverage. Understanding how to apply these elements in the service of our nonprofit clients’ broader risk management and business objectives is what distinguishes the professionals at Crystal & Company. Our colleagues understand that today’s nonprofit organizations face countless financial, operational, and governance challenges such as reduced philanthropy, increased governmental budget pressure, and increased audit requirements. We view ourselves as an extension of our clients’ risk management departments and are dedicated to protecting the assets and reputation they have worked hard to build and maintain.

We conduct a detailed review and coverage critique for all portions of an organization’s insurance program. This analysis includes a comparison to peers using benchmarking data and identification of coverage gaps.

: Abuse Prevention We have coordinated with leading providers of training in abuse identification and prevention to

offer our clients a quarterly publication of case studies to illustrate how abuse can occur and to provide specific practices that can help prevent an incident. Additional services are also available at a discount should higher exposure warrant.

: Human Resources (HR) HR issues affect nonprofits with costly and unpredictable claim trends being impacted by

litigation centered around wage & hour allegations, retaliation, and violations of employee privacy and social media concerns. We collaborate with Jackson Lewis, PC, a leading national employment law firm, to provide their perspective on Employment Practices Liability (EPL) issues tailored to our clients. This type of pre-claim risk management can have a direct effect on the Directors & Officers and EPL premium of an organization.

: Cyber Risk Due to the rising exposure of cyber liability and privacy concerns, new and developing exposure

sources can affect nonprofits with costly claim trends. We have a dedicated team to assist in the evaluation of these types of exposures who will determine how to transfer risk and offer protection in the event of a data incident, cyber attack, or public relations damage.

: Employee Benefits Benefits cost and administration in the age of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

(PPACA) have become burdensome. Nonprofits tend to support their employees by assuming a large portion of the healthcare premium. Our Employee Benefits Services team offers online benefits enrollment as well as onboarding and offboarding services. Other services include enrollment guides and private exchange platforms.

We conduct a healthcare reform audit for each client to help them ensure compliance with current provisions of the PPACA, while being mindful of any future requirements.

: Wellness Health & Wellness Plans can have a direct impact on the cost of healthcare. Through a reduction

in both claims and carrier discounts for participation, our Health & Wellness consultants will customize a program that benefits your employees and proactively manages future unknown claims and costs.
