1.1 Product Introduction Olivetti updates its range of desktop A4 Mono MFPs Olivetti launches five new mono A4 MFPs that replace the legacy d-Copia 283MF / d-Copia 284MF series to enrich our offer to SME and small workgroups. The d-Copia 3003MF, d-Copia 3003MF+ and d-Copia 3004MF systems, print and copy at 30 ppm and provide excellent scan functionality. The d-Copia 3003MF+ and d-Copia 3004MF can also boost their scan performance via their standard RADF, scanning up to 35 ipm (mono) and 14 ipm (colour). The systems are kind to the environment too thanks to white-light LEDs for scan and copy functions and Auto Power Off mode, all contributing to lower energy consumption. All models utilise a powerful 667 MHz processor. The RAM memory can also be boosted to 768 MB with options. The practical Host USB interface enables PDF files to be printed / scanned directly from or to memory sticks. The systems also offer User Authentication via the optional IC Cards which supports MIFARE, HID Prox and LEGIC standards. To boost office productivity even further, the d-Copia 3503MF and d-Copia 3504MF systems print and copy at 35 ppm. They also offer much higher toner cartridge yields; this lowers the CPC by up to 50% (which is great news if you are selling on a TCO strategy) and helps to reduce the frequency of cartridge replacement at the machine.

The five new A4 Mono MFPs fit perfectly into the existing A4 Mono MFP product line-up thanks to the same design, driver and security options as other recently introduced A4 models.



1.3 UK Market Trends Olivetti (UK) Limited recently analysed the 2011 vs 2010 unit placement data from infoSource and it indicates that the UK MFP market has grown in 2011. This is a positive sign that we may be seeing the “green shoots” of recovery in what has been a challenging fiscal climate:

LED Light Source for the Scanner The scanner of the new range replaces the traditional CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) light source with LED (Light Emission Diode) technology, delivering several significant benefits: Less power consumption is required and less heat is generated

o No mercury in the cooling tube 2.3.2 Excellent Media Capability Half-speed Mode for Heavy Media The new range is equipped with a Half-speed Mode to improve toner fusing with heavy media such as postcards and thick paper. Using the latest Printer Driver (ver. 5.3): 1 - Select the “Imaging” tab 2 – Select the “Half-speed mode” box



The new range offers a standard paper capacity of 250 sheets from the paper tray and 50 sheets from the bypass. They can be equipped with additional tray options (up to a max. of 2 extra trays) to reach a maximum paper capacity of 800 sheets from 4 different paper sources (50 sheets standard, 250 sheets standard, 2x 250 sheets optional). Quick Copy mode This mode is used to print an additional copy of a document that has already been printed. If a document is printed with “Proof and Hold” selected in the printer driver, the document will be simultaneously stored on the RAM disk. The required number of copies can then be printed whenever needed from the operation panel. Up to 50 documents can be stored on the RAM disk, if more documents than the maximum are stored, the oldest job will be overwritten each time a new job is received. Note: When the machine power is turned off, jobs stored in this mode are erased. Note: It is highly recommended that the optional memory expansion is added to the MFP

2.3.4 USB Host Direct Printing & Scanning The new range supports both Direct Printing from USB Memory Pendrive and Scan-to-USB Memory Pendrive. These functions are particularly useful for:

Customers that are not office based who do not have a connection to the network

Customers who do not have access to the printer driver

Customers who want to prevent others from viewing personal or classified information

The USB host interface is located at the front of the device, for easy access. File formats including PDF, TIFF and XPS can be printed from the USB Memory Pendrive. The USB file names are displayed on the operation panel (up to 3 sub-folders may be displayed). It is then possible to select the desired file for printing. File formats including PDF, JPEG, TIFF and XPS can be stored to USB Memory Pendrive using the scan-to-USB operation. Up to 100 files can be saved. 2.3.5 Security & I.T. IPv6 Gold Logo The new range has earned the Gold IPv6 Ready Logo as they support the next generation of internet protocols IPv6, which includes encryption IP and IPSec support. Private Print (Secure Print) The new A4 Mono MFPs offer a Private Print function so important documents such as Human Resource information can be printed in a secure environment. With Private Print, a print job is saved in the MFP’s RAM disk memory until the user enters the same 4 digit password into the MFP operator panel as the one entered into the Printer Driver when they sent the original job. Note: To use the Private Print feature with the new d-Copia 3003MF, d-Copia 3003MF+, d-Copia 3004MF, d-Copia 3503MF and d-Copia 3504MF, the optional memory expansion must be added to the MFP Note: 512MB of RAM will store approximately 128 pages (based on storing a standard A4 document at 600 dpi USB Card Readers USB Card Readers can guarantee a high level of security for authentication and access control. The authentication through a card is available as an embedded feature that can be activated with a suitable kit that is bundled with the optional Card Readers:

Users can authenticate at the MFP to retrieve their print output, maximising document security and confidentiality

Network TWAIN The new A4 Mono MFPs can now perform scan jobs via network TWAIN, which is very important when the MFP is shared in a small workgroup. They can also scan through local TWAIN / WIA as with the previous d-Copia 283MF/284MF series. Network and Security Features The new A4 Mono MFPs support various network and security needs:

2.4 Printer Driver v5.2 Printer Driver 5.2 is based on the previous Printer Driver 5.1 and 5.0 releases, but has been developed with added functionality. 3.1 Consumables The new A4 Mono MFPs offer the well-known long-life technology of the Maintenance Kit which includes the drum and developer. The first Maintenance Kit is supplied with each machine and has a life of 100,000 pages. Therefore, toner is the only consumable the customer needs to replace, thereby maximising the up-time availability of the MFP for the end user. The new MFPs adopt the same award winning technology as the legacy d-Copia 283MF / d-Copia 284MF legacy series, which earned excellent results from BLI (Buyers Laboratory) in a 10,000 image reliability test.
