Children of DCI orphanage are doing well. In addition to a home and good meals we ensure all the children are enrolled in school for basic education, they have home tutors to help them with studies, they also have teachers for extracurricular activities like singing, dancing, drawing. We also arrange for field trips/outing so they have exposure to cultural and social activities. In June, the children were taken to field trips to the ‘Shishu Mela’ at Shyamoli, Dhaka on three different days in three groups. Shishu Mela is a an amusement park for children. The trips are sponsored by Dr. Beverly Questad, USA. She also sponsored Ifter and dinner for the girls. The girls enjoyed the day by playing, enjoying different rides

and taking special snacks. In the evening the girls were taken to the City Park Chinese Restaurant, where they ate Ifter and special dinner. We are very grateful to Dr. Beverly Quested, USA for her continuous support for the children of the orphanage.

Update of DCI Pre-School

DCI established its pre-school for slum children of Kallyanpur Porabari Slum in Dhaka, Bangladesh during

May 2013. The school currently provides early education support for 50 children. Besides learning alphabets

and numbers they have a number of extra curricular activities like– playing with toys & puzzles, drawing,

reciting poems & rhymes, watching Television etc. In addition to preparing the children for school, the pre-

school allows working mothers of the slum to leave their child at a safe place instead of running around in the

streets which is very common in these areas.
