Making of this DML is amazing experience because the purpose was not only to provide an information booklet but an attempt to put some in sites which could be really motivating.

Rotaract Club of Abbottabad

Free Drinks Distribution: The RAC Abbottabad organized a free drink stall at Ayub Medical Hospital on 14thAugust to celebrate the Independence Day. Rotaractors served more than 350 glasses to the community which was followed by the singing of National Anthem to evoke a patriotic spirit among the attendees. The members and the community enjoyed and appreciated the effort of the club. The club celebrated the Independence Day by cutting a cake especially made for the occasion followed by singing a ‘Milli Naghma.’

Scholarship and Free Books Distribution: Under the Rotary Slogan “Teach a Child” RAC Abbottabad donated books to a student of engineering 1st Year and sponsored his entire fee for the year with the help of the engineering college in Abbottabad. The club plans on doing more projects under the banner of LITERACY.

Skype Meeting with the Rotaractors of Chennai, India: The Chartered President of RAC Abbottabad Rtr. Nayela Naviz had a Skype meeting with the Rotaract Club of MNM Jain engineering college, Chennai, India. The Rotaractors discussed the Rotaract plans for the year and planned a few international projects for the future. The Rotaractors discussed the cultural heritage of both the cities, Abbottabad and Chennai.

The members of RAC MNM Jain engineering college sung a song of their culture to make the skype call more entertaining. The Rotaractors of RAC Abbottabad were invited to Chennai by Rotaract Club of MNM Jain engineering college for a visit.

Cultural Box and Pins Exchange:

The RAC Abbottabad had a cultural Box exchange Project with the Rotaractors of Chennai.

The box included many things like Rotaract pins, District Pins, Traditional, Sweets from Chennai, Cultural

embalms of the city Chennai.

Rotaract Friendship letters were sent by following clubs, RAC MNM Jain engineering college, RAC RKM

Vivekananda, RAC Chennai Towers, RAC WCC, RAC Stella Marys, RAC Rajalakshmi Engineering College

and RAC Madras Central.

Rotaract Club of Chiniot Independence Day Celebration:

On 14th of August, RAC Chiniot members celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day. The members distributed Pakistani Flag Pins and Pakistani Flags among the citizens of Chiniot. A 100m race named “Azadi and Polio Race” was also organized. At the end the Chief Guest Rtr. Amjad Bashir (ZRR Chenab Zone) distributed gifts to the winners.

Rotaract Club of Islamabad Metropolitan

Instability in the City: Due to uncertain political situation in Islamabad throughout this month Rotaract Club of Islamabad Metropolitan unfortunately couldn’t do any of its planned projects this month.

Joint meeting with parent Rotary Club (August 4th):

That was the only meeting we could arrange this month. Rotarians

form Rotary Club of Islamabad Metropolitan discussed to establish

a medical clinic in the city for free checkup. They also had a building

arranged for the clinic.

Rotaractors of the club finalized the next project. We’d offer free

skin care advisory and complete medical checkup to orphan girls at

Bazeecha Shelter Homes by involving doctors in our club. We keenly

discussed pros and cons of arranging a Return Umrah ticket for one

needy Muslim within our community for our next project. Many of our Rotaractors are working in

individual bases for twinning with international clubs as well. We hope to get good news from them

sooner.

Rotaract Club of Jhang Saddar

3rd Annual Rotaract Double-Wicket Cricket Tournament:

Rotaract Club Jhang Saddar organised the 3rd Annual Double-Wicket Cricket Tournament on 2nd & 3rd

August, 2014 at Officers Club Jhang Saddar. It was a two day event which was headed by Director Sports,

Cadet Faisal Hussain. A total of 32 teams participated in the event. The winner and runner-up teams

were awarded with cash prizes as well. The chief guest of the event was Rtn. Waseem Sheikh who

distributed the certificates and prizes to the participants on the 2nd day of the event, right after the

thrilling final came to an end. The DRR’s slogan was also highlighted during the event.

Celebrating International Friendship Day:

International Friendship Day was celebrated on 3rd August, 2014 along with the Double-Wicket Cricket

Tournament, promoting fellowship and friendship through sports. Rtn. Waseem Sheikh spoke about the

importance and vitality of friendship & fellowship at the event which motivated the audience. The DRR’s

slogan was also highlighted during the event.

Observing DRR’s slogan:

The DRR’s slogan “Lead and Serve! Shine like a Star” was observed at the 3rd Annual Rotaract Double-

Wicket Cricket Tournament on 2nd & 3rd August, as well as at the Family Festival which was held on

14th August, 2014.

Awareness Campaign – World Breastfeeding Week:

The awareness campaign of World Breastfeeding Week

(UN) was observed from 1st to 7th August, 2014. An annual

celebration that highlights the critical importance of

promoting the value of breastfeeding globally, nationally

and at the community level. Indeed, giving children the best

start in life begins with breastfeeding – one of the simplest, smartest and most cost-effective ways we have of supporting healthier children, stronger families and sustainable growth. 1st Annual Rotaract Family Festival: The event was approved by the DCO and the DPO Jhang. It was purely a family festival with no singles

allowed at all. Top priority was the security. In this regard, DPO Jhang ordered his police force to provide

special security at the venue. On top of that, the elite class of Jhang was also invited to be the part of

this festival. Furthermore, there was live music and Milli-Naghmas, Magic & comedy show, jumping

castles, talent show, interactive games for families, quiz competition, musical chair, tug-of-war, face

painting, gift hampers and much more! Live BBQ and food courts were also available. Lastly, we carefully

selected the venue to the best in its accord. Moreover, the venue was recently built with wide parking

slots and quality catering and lightening setup. The cake cutting ceremony for the Independence Day

was also done by the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest of the event was DPO Jhang Mr. Zeeshan Asghar

while the Guests of Honor included President RC Jhang Saddar, General Manager Shakarganj Sugar Mills,

DRC Rtn. Yousaf Chaudhary, PAG Rtn. Wasif Majeed, PAG Rtn. Khalid Khalid Haider, Past Deputy

Governor Rtn. Mushtaq Chaudhary and other members of Rotary Club and inner wheel. The sponsors of

the event included Suzuki Chenab Motors, Ittefaq Group, Book Source, Imran Kitab Ghar, Asif Kitab Ghar

and Shakarganj Sugar Mills.

“Recognition of Best Rotaractor of the month.”

Director Club Services Rtr. Syed Ali Hassnain Naqvi was nominated as the best Rotaractor of the month due to his outstanding assistance and help throughout the projects.

Rotaract Club of Forman Christian College

Independence Day Celebration at Forman Christian College:

Forman Christian College celebrated Pakistan’s 67th Independence Day with great enthusiasm on

Thursday 14th August 2014. The Rotaract Club of FCC also contributed their efforts in conducting this

event.

The ceremony, hosted by Assistant Professor and Chairperson of Religious Studies Department, Mr Atiq

ur Rehman, was opened by recitations from the Holy Quran by Mr Abid Naeem and from the Holy Bible

by Rev Reuben Qamar. The national flag was hoisted by FCC Rector Dr James Tebbe in the presence of

faculty and staff members, among them were Acting Vice Rector, Dr Sufian Aslam, Vice Rector

Intermediate, Dr CJ Dubash, Head of FCC Security, Col Khaqan Mahmood, FCC Registrar, and Dr Hamid

Saeed. The FCC Security Guard Corps paraded and saluted the flag while the National Anthem was sung.

Distinguished Professor of History and Public Policy and Chairperson of the History Department, Dr

Sikandar Hyatt, talked about the character of Quaid-e-Azam, and shared anecdotes from Quaid’s life.

Dr Tebbe talked about the ‘Gulabi Pakistanis’, a term he used for the expats who were living and

working in Pakistan. Associate Professor of Urdu, Dr Shahida Dilawar presented a poem she had written

for the occasion.

All such efforts were made to promote and evoke a positive and patriotic spirit and enthusiasm among

the faculty, staff members and students of FCC.

The Ewing Memorial Library had also put up a stall to sell books relevant to the occasion.

A water polo tournament was also organized the same day as a part of the Independence Day

celebrations at FCC by swimming Coach Mr Ghulam Mustafa. Young children from different schools took

part in the match.

Cake and food was distributed among the participants at the end of the tournament. Sweets were given

to the attendees by Mrs Beth Tebbe towards the end of the ceremony.

Monthly Rotaract Club Meeting

On Wednesday the 27th of August Rotaract Club of Forman

Christian College had their monthly meeting. The meeting

commenced at 13:00 hours. The meeting was presided over

by the president of the club Mr. Adnan Bashir. He started by

welcoming everyone warmly to the new term.

Firstly, a few changes in the team were notified followed by

the president appreciating the efforts, determination and

commitment of the Rotaractors in the past few successful

projects during the summers.

Each member was asked to pitch in their ideas for new projects and everyone keenly contributed to it.

Various new and pristine ideas were shared among the team. Some ideas are to be implemented within

the campus and a few were in relevance to serving the community for its betterment.

The meeting ended around 14:00 hours with the hope of bright future prospects and a commitment to

work with zeal n zest for the finest and unsurpassed outcomes.

This meeting was very crucial as the team had to discuss a lot of significant and imperative projects,

issues and ideas for the upcoming month.

Rotaract Club of Lahore Mid Town

Tour to Khunjrab Pass:

The Khunjerab Pass is the highest paved international border crossing in the world and the highest point

on the Karakoram Highway.

The roadway across the pass was completed in 1982, and has superseded unpaved Mintaka and Kilki

pass as the primary passage across the Karakoram Range.

On the Pakistani side, the pass is 42 km (26 mi) from the National Park station and checkpoint in Dih,

75 km (47 mi) from the customs and immigration post in Sost, 270 km (170 mi) from Gilgit, and 870 km

(540 mi) from Islamabad.

On the Chinese side, the pass is the southwest terminus of China Pak-China Border Khunjrab Pass

Chinese Side. National Highway 314 (G314) is 130 km (81miles) fromTashkurgan, 420 km (260 mi)

from Kashgar and about 1,890 km (1,170 mi) from Urumqi. The Chinese port of entry is located 3.5 km

(2.2 mi) along the road from the pass in Tashkurgan County.

Club Reports

The long, relatively flat pass is often snow-covered during the winter season and as a consequence is

generally closed from November the 30th to May the 1st.

Rotaract club of Peshawar south

Meeting Report:

The meeting was organized by the President Mr. Haddad Khan Rotaract club of Peshawar south at Food

Punch restaurant on 29th August 2014, all other members were also present at the meeting. The agenda

of the meeting was to discuss future course of action, and to start projects.

In the meeting different project were considered by the president and vice president. The theme of the

project was to serve for the community; Vice President explained his ideas about new project that was

“Youth Capacity building program” at Intermediate level. The trainings will be carried out at different

areas of KPK. The theme of the project was good but a lot of finance is needed for carrying out one day

training with the youth, Mr. Vice President further argued that there must be 50 to 60 participants in

one session, the training plans were good but the theme of the Rotaract club was to serve community

with low finances.

The project was applauded but many of the club members were not satisfied with the project, because

ultimately the project will be commercialized.

Club Reports

The Secretary and Mr. President wished to start a project on the IDPs. The nature of the project will be

totally community based low cost project. The project was to give the people training sessions on

personal hygiene, sports, and many different topics that were the highlights during the workshop.

There were many other low cost projects discussed by other members of the Rotaract club, and the

projects will be implemented soon.

Major problems regarding the club were also highlighted by the President and shared with all the

members of club, the main problem was to organize two or three meetings a month in order to discuss

our work and share our progress on individual as well as group level. The club dues must be submitted

on due date and other problems of the club as well as of the participants were discussed.

The meeting was successful in which all the members of the club, highlighted their issues with the club

and the president shared his point of view about the poor performance of the club for months. The

meeting lasted for 3 hours in which healthy discussion took place, and the meeting end with lot of

expectation for the future work in the community.

The Article on “Peshawar Culture” was also published in the DML, which we considered a small success

of our new Rotaract club of Peshawar South.

International Visit to Kuala Lumpur of a member from Rotaract club of Peshawar South:

One of our team members from Rotaract club of Peshawar visited Kuala Lumpur for an international

visit. In his visit to Kuala Lumpur he met with their Rotaract Club. They invited him to join them in order

to help him visit different places in Kuala Lumpur. Their Rotaract club was very much active in serving

community. In Rotaract club of Kuala Lumpur following were the members:

Maria Agues Adap Mampush, she was their Director Professional Development.

Zariff Rostam, Director International Services.

They shared their experience, language, as well as culture & traditions of Kuala Lumpur. They had

organized a dinner for our member.

The Rotaract club of Kuala Lumpur invited our member for the visit to Putuajaya the capital of Kuala

Lumpur. They shared many constructive projects which we can also start in our own region.

Rotaract Club of UET Peshawar

Independence Day Celebrations: For a long time due to security reasons our nation is not celebrating the Independence Day with enthusiasm as we used to celebrate in the last decades. To bring the happiness on the faces of Pakistanis Rotaract Club of UET Peshawar took a step to arrange AZADI CELEBRATION on 14th August 2014. The whole university was decorated with national flags and patriotic posters. AZADI CAKE was cut and national songs were played. The start of the ceremony was done by Recitation of Holy Quran and later National Anthem. Brochures consisting of two pages were distributed to show the people importance of independence.

Independence Friendship Project: To remains in touch with other clubs of District 3272 and 3271, Rotaract club Of UET Peshawar sent Azadi Cards and wished all the Rotaractors of Pakistan.Positive feedback was given by some of the clubs. They appreciated the efforts of RCUP.

Pakistan Independence Day Celebrations

"Freedom does not mean to do things on your own but it means to do right things by your own"

14th August is our INDEPENDENCE DAY and it means a day when we had got freedom not only from our

ruthless rulers but freedom from humiliations. At this day we got our own identity and our own values.

Pakistan came into being in 1947 as a sovereign state. 14th August is a day when, efforts of our national

heroes are appreciated and celebrated and a day when we get our name and respect.

So on this auspicious occasion Rotary and Rotaract District 3272 with their joint collaborations arranged

an event named "Pakistan Independence Day Celebrations" which was hosted by Rotary Club of Lahore.

The chief guest was her Excellency Justice (Rtd.) Nasira Iqbal and DG Rtn. Dr. Mansoor ul Haq and many

patriotic speeches were given and whole environment was full of passion and loyalty for Pakistan. Flag

hosting ceremony was done and Pakistan’s flag was raised up in the air and told the world that we are

Rotarians and Rotaractors of Pakistan, who are keeping our flag high. We are here survive this

country and female were standing with man toe to toe and we believe women are as good as men. At

that moment every single person believed at this quote of father of nation that "There is no power on

earth that can undo Pakistan" -- M. Ali Jinnah--

We all shared the Pride of having a free land on this Independence Day.

District Projects

District Installation & Oath Ceremony

On 18Th August Rotaract club of Lahore hosted District Installation, First Rotaract district council Meeting

of the year and District monthly awards for the month of July, DG Dr Mansoor was the chief guest. DGN

Mir Arif Ali also came in the event. A total of 50 Rotaractors from the district participated in the event.

Clubs presidents took the oath and were officially installed by the District Governor.

DRRE and Conference Chair Kashif Rana announced the monthly awards. Congratulations to all on getting

the award.

Rotaractors from Jhang, Peshawar, Islamabad, Chenoit and Abbotabad especially came for the event. A

fellow Rotaractor from Japan also attended the ceremony.

DRC Jaleel Malik especially came from Faisalabad to attend the ceremony.

A productive district council meeting was held in the beginning and various issues regarding working of

the district were discussed.
