Editing Update 2
Week 2
This week I have filmed and edited some more for my music video. This week I have been making
the video that will be put onto the disc and played through the TV screen, so that I can film the living
room scene over the weekend.
On Monday, I added the Foley sound of the person knocking on the TV screen that I had recorded
over the weekend onto the video for the disc. The sound recorded was myself knocking on an actual
TV screen. I edited more shots on the main music video, so that the visuals matched the lyrics and
edited the time-lapses into place. On Tuesday, I filmed the argument scenes where the actors have
a disagreement and reconciliation – in line with the peace theme of the video. I edited these shots
on Wednesday and additionally I found on the internet the TV static sound that will be used on the
disc video. On Thursday, I had fully finished the disc video so I burned the video onto a disc so that I
can record the living room scenes at the weekend.

Week 3
This week, I worked on some more footage for the music video, mainly the beginning of the video
before the song begins in the living room.
On Tuesday, I imported the living room scenes that I did over the weekend (highlighted in blue on
the Project Media below) onto Movie Studio Platinum and edited them. This is the introduction to
my music video.
I also arranged some more of the scenes so that the visuals matched the lyrics. I have used
continuity with the narrative and followed my storyboard.
On Thursday, I thought more about the creativity of the shots that I wanted to show. For example, I
made a jump cut of the character in the TV disappearing into the woods, as I wanted to make the
shot more dramatic and it interprets time passing. This character represents the main character’s
inner self and that the main character has to follow him to be shown how it is our own choice to
leave a peaceful and fulfilling life.
In this scene I took a shot zooming into the sun. However I didn’t know how to move onto the next
scene as it would cut too sharply, so I used a transition called ‘Soft Flash’ which makes the scene
after the sun appear white and then fade onto the next scene. This now changes more smoothly
when the viewer watches the video.

Next week, I will
