PARISH and COMMUNITY EVENTS 2

Dynamic Catholic at St. Alban Roe “Become the Best Version of Yourself” The third sign of a Dynamic Catholic is Generosity. Dy-namic Catholics are generous. The world draws us into a conversation about what we don’t have, but God invites us into a conversation about all that we do have. Gener-osity begins with gratitude. Dynamic Catholics are gener-ous with their time, talent and treasure, but also with their compliments, love for family/friends and with their patience. How do you rate yourself in the area of Gener-osity? Think about it this week. We will be focusing on Generosity later in the year, but it is never too soon to be more generous! Our goal as a parish regarding Generos-ity is: Do One Generous Act a Day Imagine our world if we all lived this way! Have a great week! The Dynamic Catholic Committee

Just take a bag from the narthex and decorate it with your family name or loved ones who have died. Bring them back on Palm Sunday. They will be used in the win-dows for the Easter Season.

HELP WANTED – Leaders for Vacation Bible School One of the best weeks at St. Alban Roe Parish is the week of Vacation Bible School. We can see all the parishioners, young and old, come together and participate in faith-filled, fun activities. We are in the process to find three adult coordinators (one from school, PSR and FFF) who are willing to: Use their organization skills to plan the week. Willing to serve and be responsible . Actively engage

other adults to participate and help out

This is a great activity for the children of the parish to come together and learn about their faith

and have fun. It cannot be done without adult help.

Luke 18 ReCap

Luke 18 Retreat was held for our 8th graders on February 15-17th. The retreat was planned by our Youth Core Team and our high school youth members. The safari theme created a lot of adventure for the 8th grad-ers to explore their faith. Our 8th graders came with an openness to lis-ten to what God was saying to them and our high school teens shared their journey of God’s love with them. The weekend could not have hap-pened without the parents who were willing to open their homes to the teens to stay overnight. Special thanks to the households of Kvam, Archambeault, Schaefer, Tocco, Blessing, Everett-Davis, Wipfler, Michaelree, Koester, Blessing and Hewlett.

Any teen event would not be successful without food. The parents who prepared the meals and assisted in serving and cleaning up did a great job. Thanks to Jill Davis Everett and her volunteers. Special thanks to Gina Tocco, Will Gegg, John Piccoli, Sarah Holy-cross, Andrew Cremeen, Richard Wollenberger and Nathan Gegg, were the adult team who assisted out teens and provided organi-zation and communication. It was a very successful weekend.

Do you want to continue the spirit of Luke 18? Steubenville Mid-America is taking place July 12th – 14th at Missouri State University. St. Alban Roe has reserved 50 spots for teen to participate. It will be on a “first come, first serve” ba-sis. Information can be found on the parish website.

This notice is to inform all parishioners that Bryanna Bergmann has terminated her employment with St. Alban

Roe Parish as of January 28, 2019. She is no longer affiliated with our parish.

Currently the Core Team is taking charge of the Youth Group.

STEWARDSHIP: TIME, TALENT and TREASURE Stewardship “But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and

lend without expecting anything back.” (Luke 6:35) Easier said than done, right? But, if we are to imitate Christ, most of us need to practice mercy and compas-sion more frequently. Start with the little daily annoy-ances that we experience, the unkind word or hateful glance we receive. Instead of plotting revenge on that person, try saying a quick prayer for that person. Mercy and compassion will put us on the path to holiness.

Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist Although the Eucharist appears to be simple bread and wine, it is actually the “source and summit” of the Chris-tian life. Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist is a pow-erful 3-part series that explores the truth and beauty of Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist and invites us into an intimate union with God himself. Join us as we grow as a faith community in our understanding of God’s true presence in the world today. Cost is $6 per person (study guide/personal journal). Sacred Heart Parish – Valley Park, on the following Mondays: March 11th, 18th, and 25th, 10:00 am in the Church Hall or 7:00 pm in the Great Hall. Registration Deadline is March 4th. For more information and to register, please contact Ann Neff, 314.596.6536 or [email protected]. The question to

ask is not “What is the Eucharist?” but “Who is the

Eucharist?”
