Our response is now detailed below. · What contact, if any, is made with the applicant before a cremation (if no contact is made, please also specify this) The applicant may contact the Crematorium to ask questions with regard to the cremation or the service with the chapel but usually applicants contact a Funeral Director to make funeral arrangements. The Funeral Director would answer most questions with regard to cremations. · What this contact comprises and in what form it takes o Is this a letter/email/telephone call/other? Yes, this can be all these including viewing Aberdeen City Council’s website. Please see attached FOI-19-0747 – Cremation Letter for a sample letter. o What is included in this contact – examples could include an information brochure or leaflets. The questions can range from times of services to memorial options after cremation. · When this contact is made – specifically how many days before the cremation has happened There is no specific timescale, but this is usually between 1 and 10 days before a cremation. ACC is unable to provide you with information on the specific timescale as it is not held by ACC. In order to comply with its obligations under the terms of Section 17 of the FOISA, ACC hereby gives notice that this information is not held by it. · What contact, if any, is made with the applicant following a cremation (if no contact is made, please also specify this) On the application form there is an option of whether the applicant would like to be sent a brochure on memorial options and/or a copy of the entry in the cremation register. Other contact would be to collect ashes or arrange for and scatter ashes which can be carried out crematorium staff. · What this contact comprises and in what form it takes o Is this a letter/email/telephone call/other? This can be all the above. Please see attached FOI-19-0747 – Cremation Register Letter . o What is included in this contact – examples could include an information brochure or leaflets, client survey, or further information regarding memorial options.
