Volunteer Opportunities

Cancer Action Workshop - This group meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 9:00 - noon at the Gladstone Community Center. Their main goal is to make bed pads for cancer patients. There are many jobs to do and they don’t all involve sewing. Call 423-4086 for more information.

Attention Clay County Residents who are 60+ years of age. Clay County Senior Services will provide class schol-arships to Clay County residents age 60 and older for exer-cise classes through the City of Gladstone Parks & Recrea-tion Department. This includes both land and water classes. Clay County Senior Services will pay up to $30 per person, each quarter, not to exceed $120.00 per year. Funds will be available until the max amount is met per quarter. This is a first come, first serve basis. Gladstone Community Center—Walking Club Punch Pass Program - Punch Pass costs $12.00 for 12 punches. The Clay County Senior Services Subsidy program can be used toward punch card. WINTER BOOK CLUB Join Luaun Gavin for the Winter book club featuring “More Amazing Women in History!” There will be a meeting at the end of each month for some fun and engaging discussion about each book. The Antioch Public Library has some copies of each book in hard copy, e-books and audio. At the Library, tell them you need a book for the Gladstone Parks & Recreation book club. If they are out of books, they can also be purchased at local book stores or Walmart or Target. There is a $5.00 Book Club fee per month to cover refreshments and room fees.

50+ ACTIVITIES These activities are held at the Gladstone

Community Center, 6901 N. Holmes

Gladstone Seniors: Fourth Monday of each month, 10:30 a.m. business meeting followed by entertainment and pot-luck luncheon. Cancer Action Workshop: 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of each month, 9:00 a.m. - Noon - Volunteers are needed! Pinochle Club: Mondays at 12:30 p.m. (no partner need-ed) Bridge: Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. (no partner needed) Gladstone Duplicate Bridge Club: Mondays at 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Hand & Foot: Mondays at 12:30 p.m. Card Games of Choice: Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. $1.00-$2.00 White Elephant Bingo: Wednesdays - meet at a different restaurant each week to enjoy lunch and BINGO! Holmes On-line Registration Go to www.activityreg.com and click on Missouri then Gladstone Parks & Recreation. You will still call or come in for extended trip registra-tion. Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be issued in the event of a trip cancellation due to insufficient enrollment. Refunds or future trip credits are available up to the regis-tration deadline. After registration deadline, a refund or future trip credit will be issued only if the participant can be replaced. If a refund check is required, a $5 processing fee will be deducted.
