ADULT CLASSES

BIRDING BEGINNING TO INTERMEDIATE Learn how to identify birds by sight and song while visiting several local parks in the Portland area. All field trips on Saturdays: Crystal Springs (3/29), Sauvie Island (4/5), Elk Rock Island (4/12), Meldrum Bar (4/19), Tualatin River NWR (5/3), Camassia Preserve (5/10), Mt. Talbert (5/17). Field trips to last approximately three hours, except the 4/5 and 5/3 trips will be longer. Meet at the Gladstone High School main entrance at 7:00 AM on the morning of field trip, we will car pool from there. Bring binoculars, snack (or lunch), and drink. S.A.T. TEST PREPARATION FOR COLLEGE-BOUND JUNIORS AND SENIORS This Test-Prep course helps students prepare for the SAT-I using effective and proven test-taking strategies. Classes are taught by reading, writing and math specialists through Cascade Academics. Learn about the unique structure of the SAT-I Reasoning Test. Participation is maximized by small class sizes (12 students per teacher), and class time is provided for test practice and teacher feedback. DRIVER EDUCATION

This ODOT approved Driver Education course is designed to teach you the skills, knowledge, judgment and attitude essential to safe and skillful driving. It consists of a minimum of 30 hours classroom time and 12 hours in-car (6 hours observing and 6 hours driving.) Students must have a valid Oregon permit at least one week before class begins. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory. For teens age 15-17 who complete and pass this course before their 18th birthday, DMV will waive the driving skills test when it is time for them to get their provisional license. Any other DMV requirement must still be met. A driver education card will be issued upon completion of course requirements.

Students will sign up for driving times at the first class, which is in addition to the classroom portion. Drive times meet for 2 hours, once per week (½ driving, ½ observation) for 6 weeks and are assigned by order of registration. Drive time scheduled for after school and/or weekends. Times available vary from term to term. Please bring permit to first class. It is highly recommended that students have had at least 10 hours of behind the wheel experience before first drive time.

This release shall be binding upon our representative, successors and assigns. In the event that (my child) may require(s) emergency medical treatment while participation in the aforesaid activities of the Gladstone Recreation Department/Gladstone Community School, I hereby authorize (my said child to receive) all necessary emergency medical treatment as may be necessary under the circumstances then existent.
