Introduction• Guatemala City is located in Central America.
• It was founded in 2 of january of 1776.
• It has moved various times the last time because of an earthquake in Sta. Marta on the 1 of December of 1775.
• It development has been affected varios times as cause of natural hazards
Geography• Located in Central America
• Its in El valle de la Ermita
• It has soft temperatures, between 12 and 28 degrees
• Guatemala (country) Limits at the west and at the north with mexico at the west with Belice and at the south-west with Honduras and El salvador
• It has a total surface of 108.889 km2
How is Guatemala City laid out?• Guatemala City is
arranged in different zones delimited by avenues. It has 25 zones except zones 20, 22, 23 because are of other state
How is Guatemala City laid out?• It has a grid plan that
expands everywhere creating in the outines irregular branches
• It is divided in quarters what makes finding streets easy
• In the capital there are different colonies that consists in suburbs sorrounded with a wall and security
• it also has shanty towns
• and some apartment buildings
History and development• everything started with the
maya city kaminaljuyu it is dated of 2000 years before. it is known that was the commercial city of the territory
• after several countries it was decided that the capital had to be moved. the final capital received the name of Nueva Guatemala de la Asuncion and was aspanish colony
Enviromental Issues• Guatemala City has a lot of
enviromental issues
• the airport is too close to a zoo so the sound affect animals
• some zones dont have the correct system of water
• some have very contamined the water
Infrastructure• Guatemala City has an
international airport ( La Aurora )
• several hospitals
• several national banks headquarters
• power plants
• It has a financial center
