WIE Governance Issue
The IEEE Board of Directors conducted a review of the WIE in 2010• WIE reported to the IEEE Board (standing committee)
• Operationally functioned within Educational Activities Board
The WIE committee negotiated with the EAB and Member and Geographic Activity boards• They decided to become part of M&GA, even though their conditions
were not met
Voting position on he M&GA Board
Independent determination of the WIE Chairman
• In January 2012, WIE is officially part of M&GA
• Budget will continue to be supplied through the Educational Activities board
Current WIE Activities and Discussions
The WIE committee participated in the Women in Mars Conference• Held at GW University, Nov. 2011
• Several distinguished speakers, including Lori Garver, Deputy NASA Administrator
A new initiative is being prepared for a WIE Conference in 2012 (a separate conference, not the face-to-face meeting)
A Facebook page has been prepared for the WIE to further publicize WIE members and activities
A telecon was held on Jan. 27, updating current plans and status

• Support by societies is a useful metric for the Board of Directors review
WIE Function History and Plans within the NPSS
A WIE function was also held at ICOPS 2011
Up to $2500 per function is authorized by AdCom
Summary
WIE functions have taken place at several NPSS conferences• A poster is available for NPSS conferences describing the WIE
• Evening receptions appear to be effective formats
• I can work with various conferences to help in planning and getting information available on the WIE
These activities fill an important gap between the WIE Committee, which is largely focused on student activities, and working professionals
Please advise me of conference functions so that I can include them in my report to the WIE
