Born on August 29th, 1958, in Gary Indiana
He joined the Jackson Brothers at the age of 6
At first he played the congas and tambourine, but was soon sharing the lead vocals with Jermaine
The band’s name was later changed to The Jackson 5
Michael’s childhood home. The house had only 3 rooms.

The band was discovered by Berry Gordy
In 1968 the band signed with Motown Records
They started releasing songs that became instant (and timeless) hits, such as “Abc”, “I Want You Back”, “I’ll Be There”, “Dancing Machine”, “Rockin Robin”, “Who’s Lovin You” and so on
Michael was starting to get more and more attention
His first solo album, called Off the Wall (1979) made a banging start to his career, selling 20 million copies worldwide
Second solo album, Thriller, is to this day the biggest selling album of all time (over 100 million copies worldwide)
Third solo album called Bad sold 30 million copies worldwide and has been cited as one of the 20 best-selling albums of all time
Fourth solo album, Dangerous, has approximately sold over 30 million copies worldwide
Fifth album, a compilation of old hits and new material, was called HIStory
Sixth and final solo album, Invincible, sold 13 million copies
Michael wrote a charity single “We Are The World” with Lionel Richie in 1985 to raise money for Africa and it sold approximately around 20 million copies
The song brought together some of the most successful singers in the industry at the time
It raised over $63 million for humanitarian aid in Africa and the US
The song was re-recorded (with different artists) in 2010 to raise money for Haiti
Heal the World was a song from the album Dangerous
The music video features children living in countries that suffer from unrest
Michael also created a Heal the World Foundation to improve the lives of children and teach them how to help others
Michael performed the song in the Super Bowl XXVII halftime with a spectacular show
Michael was planning to do a huge comeback in 2009 with series of concerts in London
It had to be his very last show The concert tour was mainly about raising
awareness about the difficulties we put our planet through every day
Tragically, Michael passed away June 25th, 2009
Although the concerts were cancelled, fans still got the opportunity to see what the show would have been like, since the rehearsals were all filmed and made into a movie called “This Is It”
“I respect the secrets and magic of nature. That’s why it makes me so angry when I see those things that are happening, you know. That every second a size of a football field is torn down in the Amazon. That kind of stuff really bothers me. That’s why I write these kinds of songs. It gives some awareness and awakening and hope to people.”
