Monday 9th March dawned a beautiful day for our postponed Faction Swimming Carnival. We had a wonderful Junior Carnival with our Pre-primary to Year 2 students participating in plenty of fun games.

The Senior Carnival got underway with a Jurassic Dino Race to warm everyone up and then on to the main swimming races, several records were broken and it was wonderful to see everyone trying their hardest. We would like to thank the parents and staff who helped running the day, particularly Mr Nigel Gelmi for his work every year to organise the set up/pack up of the event. Thank you also to the P&C for running the sausage sizzle, the Shire of Quairading and Trista at the Quairading Memorial Pool and all the families that came along to support the students.

The biggest thanks goes to the students for demonstrating the four school values of Quality, Grace, Pride and Respect. We celebrate the contribution of all students in trying their best and gaining faction points for their team.

CoronaVirus Position and Update Hi everyone, We are in a fortunate position currently, with regard to COVID-19. The Department of Health advises that the risk of transmission in Western Australia remains low; and we are acting on their advice to take any necessary precautions for school and our staff. The current focus is on preparation in advance of COVID-19 and precautions that can be put in place to slow its transmission. Please inform the school if you have been in mainland China, Iran or Korea in the past fortnight, or you have been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus. You and your children can help protect yourself from coronavirus by: • Frequently washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or using an alcohol-based hand gel • Refraining from touching mouth and nose • If coughing or sneezing, covering your nose and mouth with a paper tissue or flexed elbow. • Dispose of the tissue immediately after use and perform hand hygiene and • Avoiding close contact with anyone if you, or they, have a cold or flu-like symptoms (maintain a distance of at least 1 metre). WA Health does not recommend the use of face masks for the general public to prevent the risk of contracting COVID-19. Further information is available at www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/coronavirus or the healthdirect helpline on 1800 020 080 for more information on the virus and its symptoms. Please feel free to call me and discuss any concerns you may have. Pauline Wray, Principal.
