On Saturday July 9th, 2016, we hosted an Eid Picnic for the
community at large.
After a month of fasting and spiritual reflection during the holy
month of Ramadhan it was a day of socializing, great food
and fun activities all whilst celebrating the festive day of Eid
Ul-Fitr. The picnic was held among the beautiful natural
landscape and diverse wild life in the Island Lake
Conservation Area located in Orangeville, Ontario.
Throughout the day, there were a variety of activities such as
hiking, sports, a scavenger hunt, a raffle for a Ziyarat trip and
much more. Our Chairlady and Mukhi with the help of
volunteers had tirelessly prepared for the picnic and were
rewarded with the large turnout of over 900 participants. It
was a memorable day for all who had attended.

Eid Picnic - A Letter of Appreciation.
The JCC Eid Picnic was a major event in the history of the Toronto
Jamaat. This was an event where the ISIJ of Toronto was able to
cater to and accommodate the entire Shia Ithna-Asheri community
on the same ground. Due to this, this eid will be cherished in our
hearts for many years to come.
There are a variety of reasons that contributed to making this a
successful event, and I will highlight a few that stood out to
me. Firstly, the participation of the Masumeen Community and the
transportation arrangements made was extremely commendable. It
showed unity, respect and inclusion for the west end community which I truly appreciated.
Secondly, throughout the event the recycling bins were set up by the food tables which
showed the park management and community that we care and have respect for our
earth and the environment. Thirdly, It was a pleasure to see Maulana Rizvi at the picnic. It
showed the people of the community that our spiritual and community leader is present
with us to share and celebrate this festive event.
Another contribution to the success of the Eid picnic was that it was a major social event.
During this event we were able to connect with old friends, relatives, and were able to meet
other community members. Also, the choice of venue and food was excellent and the
variety and quantity was superb.
The ISIJ showed us the true spirit of Eid and the message of congregation was clearly visible
at the time of Zuhr Namaz. At this time, we prayed behind our spiritual leader, under the
open sky and on the earth which Allah (SWT) has blessed us with. It was truly the perfect
opportunity for us to admire and connect with nature and wilderness.
Finally, throughout the event, the volunteers were polite,
understanding and helpful and I would like to say "Thank you " to
each and every member of your team for making this day
memorable for all of us. May Allah reward them and grant all their
wishes, and may they continue to serve the community in future.

The Canadian Muslim Vote Inaugural Eid Dinner
JIY Bonfire Daku Night
The Jaffari Islamic Youth in
collaboration with the Mahdi
Youth Society of the Al Mahdi
Islamic Centre hosted a Bonfire
Daku Night on Thursday, June 30th,
2016.
The event was held at the Al
Mahdi Islamic Centre in Pickering
and was truly a night of deep
spiritual enlightenment. Along with
the guidance of respected scholar
Syed Asad Jafri the discussion
topic covered was ‘Attaining
Spirituality in Ramadhan and
utilizing it Beyond’.
The night consisted of sports, ice
breaker activities, Islamic jeopardy
and a discussion period. There
was a turnout of over 150 youth
and it was extremely inspiring to
see the Islamic brotherhood
between the youth of both
communities.
Eid- ul- Fitr is a festive and joyous occasion for Muslims
throughout the globe, and the perfect opportunity to
highlight the efforts and contributions of Canada’s
diverse Muslim Population. On Wednesday July 13,
2016, The Canadian-Muslim Vote organization hosted
their Inaugural Eid Dinner, which the Executive
Committee and several members of our community
attended to commend their participation in actively
playing an integral role in civic engagement and
empowerment of the Muslim community.
The night began with a Networking Reception at
6:00PM. It consisted of dinner service, remarks from
keynote individuals including political leaders and
after Maghrib Prayers, it concluded with a Special
performance by world renowned performers “Deen
Squad”.
For the last two years, The Canadian Muslim Vote
team has worked to help Canadian Muslims
recognize the importance of exercising their right to
vote and be engaged in the democratic process. This
was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate in the
company of people who support this important
cause.
The efforts of this team have been recognized by a
countless number of political leaders including
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who has
written “We also take this opportunity to
acknowledge the countless contributions of our
Muslim community to our society and look forward to
continuing to work with all Canadians to increase
civic engagement.”

Eid Salaat
O Allah, (belongs to You only) pride, glory, excellence, omnipotence. (You) grant amnesty
and show kindness, (You are) Holy and Oft-forgiving, (so), I ask You in the name of this day
which You have ordained as a day of happiness for the Muslims. An occasion for
Muhammad (blessings of Allah be on him and his progeny) to plan ahead and grow strong
to send blessings on Muhammad and on the progeny of Muhammad. And introduce me to
every good that had been made available to Muhammad and Aale Muhammad. Educate
me to keep from every evil as You kept safe Muhammad and Aale Muhammad from it.
Your blessings be on him and on them. O Allah, I ask you to give me the good which Your
pious servants had asked for. And I take refuge with You from that which caused
Your pious servants to seek refuge with you. (Dua recited for Qunoot for Eid Salaah)
