july 2013 updates: the grown ups’ news an unexpected moment of hugs and joy
TRANSCRIPT
Barak has been very busy with his MA studies and is enjoying the material. After he finished one of his courses he embarked on a painstaking mission to list all the typos and
inaccuracies in the course’s book so they could reprint it for the next addition. His lecturer was highly appreciative!
Sometimes his pedantic Aspergers’ traits are actually a blessing...
These days my ally of creativity was mainly around cooking (here experimenting with
sweet potato chips...) but at last I got some work at the gallery and also was offered to
teach a weekly art class on Saturdays.
My boss was smart enough to have one look at the program I proposed and tell me to teach whatever I want, however I like.
That was exciting but also a bit daunting!
I went to an event at the art gallery for the new winter exhibitions with my friend Helen and we went with the
staff to a dinner at a Thai restaurant afterwards.
My first lesson in my new “Art Attack” Saturday class
(ages 5-8)!
The theme was landscape, following Shaun Tan’s
illustrations.
To get a sense of the concepts of background, middle ground and foreground, the kids made 3D dioramas. This also helped me
assess their abilities.
See you next time, with our August presentations!
