As Salaam O Alaikum,

I hope you all are making most out of the month of Ramadan.We all know it has been quite hot and the electricity has beenan issue but Allah (SWT) somehow always gives sabr duringthis holy month.

There are no events during Ramadan, however, your managingcommittee tried its best to give you as many events right beforethe start of the holy month as possible and we are carryingreviews on all those events in this month’s issue of the magazine.

The Publication committee has also planned an event forchildren aged 11-16 which will be an over-night at the Annexe.It is more of a fun night for the youngsters with movies, games,bonfire and many other fun filled events. We will only take 100entries so hurry before all seats are taken.

By the time you will receive this magazine at home we all willbe approaching the last Ashra of Ramadan. I request you all tokindly keep all of us in your prayers.

Health & Fitnesss

As it has now become a tradition with Health & FitnessCommittee and its Convener Mr. Ashfaq Ghory, a verythought provoking and apt program was organizedon Friday the 19th of May on the subject of“Management of Diabetes in Ramadan”. Dr. ProfessorYousuf Kamal (Aga Khan University Hospital) was thespeaker on the occasion and he delivered a detailedlecture on “Dos” and “Don’ts” on our eating habitsduring Ramadan.

EntertainmentOn the evening of 20th, May, the entertainment sub-committee under its convenor Mr. Mohammad IqbalGodil organized a program which was due at KarachiClub “A tribute to Amjad Sabri” by his only student“Jamshed Sabri”.

The event was due as was said earlier simply becauseof the fact that late Amjad Sabri was a regularperformer at Karachi Club and during his visits hemade a lot of friends here.

Jamshed justified his title as the only student of Amjadand enthralled the crowd till the wee hours of themorning. Ahmad Godil was the host of the event anda great find for Karachi Club. Mr. Jawed H. Karim,

Honorary Secretary, and Managing CommitteeMembers attended the function.

A large number of members attended the show andthoroughly enjoyed it.

Billiards & Snooker

A very well organized tournament by Asim GhaniUsman and his team came to an end which waswon by Mufaddal Moiz and Murtaza Moiz by 3-1in the best of 5 frames match.

This tournament was organized primarily for theplayers who are in the growing phase of theirgames, which means they are still in the processof upgrading their mastery in Snooker. Every teamgets handicap as per the standard of theirrespective level of game, thus by giving orsubtracting handicap all players come up to onelevel and chances are always open for everyoneto win the tournament. That’s what makes this KCDoubles Handicap Snooker Tournament standapart and gets everyone interested in supportingand cheering for their respective teams.

The session was followed by a question & answer hourwhich went on for more than the designated time.

Finance

The finance sub-committee under its convenor Mr.Sohail Yaqoob organized yet another program full ofinformation for the members and that too right at thebeginning of the holy month of Ramadan. On 23rd,May. Mr. Asif Kasbati and Mufti Ehsan Waqar spoke onthe occasion. Mr. Kasbati gave a detailed presentationon the calculation of Zakat and Mufti Ehsan gave adetailed account on Islamic Finance.

On the occasion Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Dada who wasthe chief guest also shared his thoughts on IslamicFinance and how it has grown over the last 15 years.

On 6th May 2017 KC Cricket Committee has organizedyet another colorful Cricket Extravaganza. This timethe opportunity was provided to Seniors of KarachiClub to showcase their Cricketing talent. It was a highlysuccessful event in which around 66 membersparticipated and proved that OLD IS GOLD.

After 4 round matches Two best teams KC Reds leadby Mr. Arshad Tai and KC Blues led by Mr. Faheem

Sakrani played the Grand Finale, in which KC Reds afterwinning the Toss had Elected to bat first and scored85 runs in allotted 8 overs but for KC Blues these Runswere never enough and they chased those in 6 oddovers. Aamir Batla, Umair Idrees and Rizwan Diwan'sbrilliance helped Blues in achieving the title. Jawed H.Karim Honorary Secretary was the Chief Guest of theevent and distributed Momentos to the Bestperformers and handed over the Winners and Runnersup Trophies.
