Season 2019 Rangers 50th Season was a milestone in more ways than one. Playing in the States top-tier NPL for the first time in 25years, the results were outstanding. Our forefathers set high target with their amazing vision and the foundations they lay here at Popondetta Park for this great club. They would be rightfully very proud of the onfield accomplishments in our States top-tier with 1st Grade missing a maidan finals birth by just 2pts and our 18s only denied raising the Grand Final trophy by a penalty shootout. Our Youth League and Girls Conference development and results were also admirable.

Season 2020 Round #1 on our home pitch for our entire 50 seasons, affectionately known as ‘Royal’ Popondetta. Both clubs tonight will be very keen to kick-start their NPL campaign on the right note. FNSW have removed the Club Championship with promotion and relegation being solely on the 1stGrade results so ensure you get behind the Green and Gold and cheer loud…

Mount Druitt Town Rangers FC, the destination of choice has long prided itself on providing unique football opportunities for our youth, and after 50 Seasons of Football, Rangers is again launching new programs to extend our horizons and football opportunities to better serve our Football community.

As a Blacktown District Soccer Football Association (BDSFA) Foundation club Town Rangers has operated at grassroots football to our local community playing under our shared Rangers badge. Some exciting changes to our BDSFA offerings for Season 2020 see the following inclusions:

• Pre-SAP Academy program has been introduced under the supervision of our TD of NPLY Ben Gough for those aspiring boys and girls u6~u12s,

• Youth Academy program provides opportunities for those from 13s~16s with aspirations for FNSW NPLY,

• Girl’s / Women’s 20G provides the opportunity for our FNSW Girl’s Conference League (GCL) graduates to continue to play together under coach Andrew Ienna as we prepare for inclusion of a full Women’s program pending the outcomes of the FNSW Women’s Football Review,

• BDSFA Premier League will include an inaugural Town Rangers team, fulfilling a lifetime dream of TR President Dave Martin, we thank the entire BDSFA for their cooperation in achieving this milestone.

And our unique opportunities continue into the FNSW program with both our SAP 12s and Inclusive (AWD / Special Needs) jet setting off to continue our Rangers Portugal experience for Easter 2020 (April) where both teams will proudly wear our Rangers badge as they compete in the Algarve Cup - the ‘New World Youth Cup’. The Football and Cultural experiences will last with these guys forever - obrigado!

A special shout out to our AWD convenor Helen Stevens who single handedly engaged the Algarve

Cup Committee requesting the inclusion of a Special Needs program, and to Helen’s and our delight the Algarve Cup have agreed. So there is a neat little point of history for Helen and little ol’ Mount Druitt Town Rangers - influencing a World tournament! We can hear our forefathers … ‘well I never!’

If you are able to assist our SAP 12s and/or Inclusive AWD Special Needs teams please reach out to either Jodie or Helen who are also running Trivia Nights to help offset the associate expenses.

The tireless work of our Football Department so completely led and driven by Director of Football Stewart Montgomery and Head Coach Aidan Desmond, and their entire NPL coaching staff again unite to deliver what promises to be an exciting NPL season with the dedicated and focused playing roster they have compiled..

From our President, Mark ‘Robbo’ Roberston and all beside him, all at Rangers contribute lots of hard work and commitment to ensure unique Football and community opportunities exist - the VPA / HUDL, Changeroom and Medical facilities, the Portugal Tournaments, planning and engagement of Council for the new synthetic ground and facilities, etc. these are rarely equalled outside the gates of Popondetta - and all contribute to making Rangers the destination of choice.

We aspire to our clubs forefathers’ vision to build the foundations they lay for this great club. It is their efforts that inspire us today to ensure the club is Rangers Ready for the future. We only hope that the club continues to do them proud.

There was plenty of positive signs from Mt Druitt Town Rangers in 2019 and they will be looking to build on that with a strong start to this campaign, beginning with a win agains Sydney FC at Popondetta Park on Sunday.

Not much was expected of Mt Druitt during their maiden season in the NPL NSW but the Aiden Desmond coached outfit proved they can match it with anyone.

Mt Druitt will be a little smarter and a little wiser in their second season while a huge off-season recruitment drive has them stronger than ever.

Former A-League star midfielder Mateo Poljak makes the move west to join the Rangers and could be the perfect foil for striker Mirjan Pavlovic.

The big loss however is that of midfield maestro Fabricio Fernandez who has since moved back home to his native country in Uruguay.

Looking to stop them will be Jim van Weeren and his Sydney FC side.

The Young Sky Blues have shown a knack for surprising any team who underestimates them and that is likely to continue this season.

Star youngsters such as Marco Tilio have broken into Sydney FC’s A-League squad and will be out to earn a permanent move into the senior squad with a big showing in the NPL.

Van Weeren will be hoping his latest crop of academy players can make the step up to the NPL after losing Ryan Teague, Joel King and Harry van der Saag in the offseason.

Expect plenty of goals in what is set to be an exciting contest.
