everywhere. A sign of life once lived but in death we honour all who stood before

the anger of a foe…”

The war years of the last century were both

a demonstration of the pain and misery that

humanity can bring upon itself as well as the

possibility of hope and renewal from such adversity.

This evening we bring you an experience of the

music that inspired and galvanised a people in

their darkest hours. The music of the war years was

often composed in contrast to the reality of the

human experience of the day. It was hopeful and

fun; as could be heard in the popular dance music

that was evident in the evolving jazz music, musical

theatre and motion pictures of the time. Other

music was more circumspect and connected with

the emotional pain of loss and grief.

As we welcome you to our 27th annual Catholic

Schools Music Festival for 2015 be prepared to be

amazed and entertained by the talent on showcase

before you presented by some of our most talented

young people in Catholic schools.

We wish to acknowledge and thank the dedication

of the Choir Trainers, Music Coordinators and the

Festival Committee, who make this performance

possible. We also thank the South Australian

Commission for Catholic Schools, Catholic

Education SA, school principals and you, the

families and friends for your support.
