LightingHow I am going to use lighting in my music video

Page 2: Lighting

The Introduction

S In the introduction I was going to use low key lighting,

and possibly add extra effects in turning down the

contrast. This will create more intrigue to the audience

and as the song goes on, the lighting and contrast will

increase with more longer shots directly at the character

to reveal his full identity. This would make the video more

exciting and would make the audience want to watch

further in the video.

Low Key Lighting

S I shall couple low key lighting with close ups to keep the

suspense and false reading for the song, until the main

character enter the bar.

Street Scene

S When the character walks towards the bar, I could use

brighter lighting and longer shots to show where he is

going. The lighting used would be mainly fairly bright,

however, it will be set going into evening so naturally it

will be darker. Streetlights maybe to use, but I would want

them to take the quality away from the video.

Bar Scene

S In the bar scene, I am going to have bright, high key

lighting to introduce and enhance the chance in tone in

the song, changing from tense to lighthearted. The

lighting will emphasise the humorous actions of the main

character, which will enhance the effect on the audience.

High Key Lighting

S High key lighting will be utilised to ensure that all characters will be clearly shown, but mainly the framing will enhance the main character. This diagram shows how I shall get the full effect of using high key lighting.

S Also this lighting will show all aspects of mise en scene, meaning that I will need to ensure that all props and costumes re suitable and ready on the day of the shoot.

S This lighting will also be used if I stray from the main scene into a narrative section, this would be filmed in a different location.
